Shawn "Pecas" Costner Speaks On 2 Chainz Signing To Def Jam Prior To The Rapper Confirming His Deal
Def Jam's Shawn "Pecas" Costner says Sha Money played a vital role in 2 Chainz being signed to Def Jam. Although news of 2 Chainz signing to Def Jam was confirmed earlier today, those including Def Jam Senior VP Shawn “Pecas” Costner were quite aware of the deal well before it was made public. Costner initially revealed the news during a video interview with AlLindstrom.com which was taped well before 2 Chainz’ interview with XXL Magazine. That portion of Costner’s interview was finally posted today.
"Yes, 2 Chainz will be signed to Def Jam,” said Pecas while smiling.
Pecas also revealed that Michael “Sha Money” Clervoix played a role in “reinvigorating” Def Jam’s interest in 2 Chainz who was signed to the label through his deal with Disturbing Tha Peace (DTP).
“Shout out to Sha Money too by the way for reinvigorating 2 Chainz within our company,” Pecas explained. “Cause you already know we had him as a group artist when he was Tity Boi signed to one of our subsidiaries DTP. So shout out to Luda and them as well.”

Too Short Reflects On First Full NYC Concerts And Career Longevity
Bay Area legend Too Short pauses to reflect on his two concerts at NYC's Knitting Factory last week"they were his first full dates in a career that spans 29 years.
Among the many phrases popularized by Too Short (including his signature, elongated “Bitch!”), is “Don’t Stop Rappin’.” In addition to it being the title of his debut album, the 45-year-old Oakland emcee is apparently using that motto as a career guide of sorts.“I don’t dye my gray hairs,” Too Short told Jon Caramanica in a recent New York Times profile. “I don’t lie about my age. You can rap ’til you die.”
That belief may be fueling Short Dog’s upcoming, No Trespassing album. The LP, which is scheduled for a February 28 release, will be Too Short’s nineteenth. In what was most likely part of a brief promotional tour, Too Short performed a few shows at New York’s hipster haven, The Knitting Factory. At some point it dawned on Too Short that during a career that has lasted nearly three decades, he’d never performed a full concert in The Empire State.
“I never even knew I had a chance of getting on a stage in New York,” Too Short explained.
That chance will increase, as Short is reportedly contemplating a return to New York with a full, live band in tow for his next appearance. The full profile can be read in the New York Times’ Music section.

2 Chainz Leaves Ludacris, "It's Not DTP No More"
Despite the break-up, Chainz said he is still on good terms with Luda.
Although there's numerous rumors about his new label deal circulating on the net, 2 Chainz cleared up one thing with XXL about his current situation: He is no longer with Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace. "It's the Real University, Two Gun Gang, Street Executives. It's not DTP no more," he says. "I'm actually behind [Ludacris], he's still my homie. I just took another route as far as running my own company and bossing up. But on the other hand, I'm still working with him. He has an album coming out this year, as well." Tity Boi breaks the news that he signed to the house that Russ built. 2 Chainz has revealed that he has signed to Def Jam Recordings. Machine Gun Kelly Reacts To Diddy's Stern Concerns, "He Thought I Got Arrested Twice"
According to MGK, his Bad Boy boss slightly misunderstood the situation.
"You can tell he's, like, playful with it, but there's a serious tone behind [it]," Machine Gun Kelly told MTV News on Monday (January 30) about his boss' reaction to the incident in a Florida club that led to the arrest. "I talked to Puff today, and he's like, 'It's all good. Do what you do. You did what you had to do.' ..." On Friday night, one of MGK's friends was caught drunk driving and got into a car crash; Kells was not present, but try explaining that to Diddy. "He thought I was in the car too, so he thought I got arrested twice. It was like the first arrest was cool, like, all right, he'll let it slide. But when he [thought it was two arrests], he was like, 'What the f---? You got arrested two times? Something is wrong with you, man,' " MGK said, imitating one of Puff's patented tantrums. Rapper Machine Gun Kelly's tour took an unexpected stop early this morning -- to jail ... after he was busted by police in Florida for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. According to the website for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, MGK (real name Richard Baker) was busted at 4:12 AM and released a few hours later after posting $100 bond. MGK is currently touring and played the State Theatre in St. Petersburg last night. His next tour date is in Los Angeles on February 8. (TMZ)The rapper also hopped on Twitter to dish out details of the jail experience.
