Game's Bloods Get Him Busted In Canada, "He's Affiliated W/ Organized Crime"

According to reports, Game's criminal activities restricted him from entering Canada.

A rep for Substance Entertainment Group -- the promotion company behind Game's tour in Canada -- tells TMZ, the tour promoter got a call from Canadian Customs while Game was on the plane on his way to Canada. We're told customs informed the promoter that Game would be denied entry "due to new information received that Game is affiliated with organized crime and is an active member of the Bloods street gang." The rep claims Game was blindsided by the last-minute red flag -- telling us, concert organizers had secured all permits and approval weeks ago to get Game into the country. (TMZ)

UPDATE: Gucci Mane Still Can't Bail His Way Outta Jail

The rapper's attorney has come forward to provide an update on his client's status.
Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane has entered a not guilty plea in a Georgia court and has been transferred to another jail to face charges of violating his probation. Gucci, aka Radric Davis, had been in jail in Dekalb County for 12 days until being bailed out Wednesday; and as RumorFix first reported he was then transferred to Fulton County to face previous charges. Gucci's attorney Ashutosh Joshi tells RumorFix exclusively, "We were aware that he would not be released, we just wanted to get him to Fulton County to move forward on his probation violation." (RumorFix)
Yesterday, reports claimed his family posted bail for Gucci.
RumorFix has learned exclusively that rapper Gucci Mane has been bailed out of Dekalb County Jail almost two weeks after he was arrested for allegedly throwing a woman out of a car. Sources tell RumorFix that although the bail was only $5,700 friends and family were sick of Gucci's troubles so no one wanted to come to his rescue. (RumorFix)
Gucci's lawyer also said his client planned to plead not guilty.
Rapper Gucci Mane's lawyer is denying accusations that the musician pushed a woman out of his Hummer as he drove down a suburban Atlanta street in January. Attorney Ashutosh Joshi said Tuesday the artist intends to plead not guilty. DeKalb County prosecutors on Tuesday announced formal charges of battery, reckless conduct and disorderly conduct against the rapper, also known as Radric Delantic Davis, 31. DeKalb Solicitor-General Sherry Boston said the rapper's conduct "shows a wilful disregard for a woman's personal safety." Joshi said he and his client look forward to having the opportunity to fight the charges in court. (Canadian Press)
Last week reports claimed Gucci was still behind bars despite having a relatively low bail set.
Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane remains in the DeKalb County jail almost a week after a woman accused him of shoving her from a moving vehicle, DeKalb police confirmed. Authorities could not confirm the amount of the rapper's bail. The musician, born Radric Davis, was jailed on misdemeanor battery charges, according to a press release from DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown. DeKalb Fugitive Squad members arrested him while he was visiting his probation officer, and took him to the DeKalb County Jail. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

Lloyd Banks Says G-Unit Changed The Game, "We Took It, Flipped It & Went From Being Blackballed"

The "Punch Line King" believes the Unit's early 2000's mixtape success set a precedent for other artists.
"We changed the mixtape game. We had a movement in 2001 and 2002 that turned the mixtape into a demo. And I think we were the first people to take a mixtape serious enough to format it in song structure and be able to play our rendition behind whatever was playing. We just found the humor in older records and the aggressive content in the records that were less aggressive. So we just kind of took it and flipped it our own way, and went from being black-balled. So we had to make our own lane and force our way into the industry. I'm not going to say any names, but we didn't have a welcome mat laid out when we came into the game." (All Hip Hop)
Earlier this year, Dipset's Freekey Zekey said his team helped popularize the mixtape game.
"We started the mixtape regime," Zekey promised in an interview. "We started all of that. Everybody's got their mixtape things through the Diplomats because we actually was giving y'all free albums. A lot of times when you do a mixtape, it's called a mixtape because you're mixing the lyrics you have on a song that's already played. It's a mixture of new raps and old beats. For us, we was giving you new beats, new raps and we was killing the streets and that's how we got on and popped off so hard and 50 [Cent] followed suit and then it was a domino effect from there." (Dr. Jays)
Last year, fellow New York rapper Fabolous spoke on whether or not mixtape releases had run their course.
"The Drake [So Far Gone] mixtape of course was a huge success," Fab explained in an interview. "Lil Wayne's tape generated a lot of interest. I saw Wayne and just listening to his tape gave me kinda the feeling that people still accepted the mixtapes and wanted to hear it. I guess it's particular artists that they attach to but I had felt even with the most high-class artists, people were getting so used to getting free music that the mixtape game wasn't that influential anymore. So when I seen what [Wayne's] No Ceilings did, it let me see that there's still definitely potential there, there's still that market there. I think for me it's definitely there because my albums tend to be a little more mainstream than my mixtapes." (Real Talk NY)
West Coast rapper Game recently talked about the power behind a quality mixtape.
"A mixtape is pretty much just calling in favors from, you know, some of the biggest rap superstars who happen to be good friends of mine off the mic and them just delivering for me and me throwing it all out there. But an album, you know, I've got to take my time because that's my legacy. I can joke and I can play around with different topics and lyrics and different rhyme patterns and sounds on a mixtape, but on an album I've got to take it seriously because that's who I am, it's what defines me." (Rolling Stone)

"Rick Ross Is Trying To Build A Real Label Not A Rap Group"

Moses credits Ross' emphasis on allowing artists to be their own unique selves as a strong MMG feature.
"If they have wanted something else they wouldn't have came for me. This is not a situation like most labels. What Rick Ross is trying to do is build a real label not a rap group. He [Rick Ross] went out and got Wale. He's not trying to have Wale do something different. There's an audience that likes Wale. Stalley has an audience who likes him. Ross isn't asking us to change or do something that we don't already do. He's picking artist that people cling to and he works that." (Billboard)
Details of Moses' Maybach deal hit the Internet in late March.
I gotta say, even I didn't see this one coming. With all the rappers Ricky has been signing, it begs wondering whether a vocalist would be in the works and now, songstress Teedra Moses has joined the fold over at Maybach Music Group. Ms. Moses hinted at the deal in a recent interview with Vibe and how now officially changed her Twitter bio to "Maybach Group Soulstar". If you're not up on her music, be sure and check out her debut projectComplex Simplicity, which is one of the greatest R&B/Neo-Soul albums ever. (Y2K Daily)
Earlier the same week, Moses discussed the possibility of linking with Ross' team.
"I like the way they move, and I like the hunger over [there], and I like that it's all about work. As much as Rick talks about the glitz and glamour or whatever, he goes hard and he works hard, so I rock with that. And that's what I do. I work hard, I rock shows, I touch the people and I try to make good music. I'm not really into the hoopla." (VIBE)
Ross is currently preparing the release of his label's Maybach Music Group Self Made compilation album.
"The biggest compilation in recent time, man," Ross told radio host Bootleg Kev. "We going back to the era of the dope emcees, when Ruff Ryders was doing compilations and you just love the energy the dudes brought to the table...The new album from Maybach Music/Warner. It's gonna be big...Yeah, yeah, [Drake'll be on there], most definitely. Drake will be on the compilation and you know that's the homie so it's all love. He's embracing the movement and you know, it just feels good to rock out with your family. Shout-out to YMCMB." (Bootleg Kev)

Missy Elliott's Time Clock Winds Down, "This Could Possibly Be Her Last..."

According to Da Brat, Missy may be done with releasing full-length albums.
"I was hoping for a 'Ladies Night' reunion. I spoke to Missy and she down for it. She want to do a song because she said this could possibly be her last album," Da Brat said. "I'm definitely coming back out ASAP." (Sister 2 Sister Magazine)
Earlier this year, Missy and hitmaker Timbaland put out a record called "Take Ur Clothes Off".
Timbaland debuts his new weekly series Timbaland Thursdays with none other than his frequent collaborator Missy Elliott. The best buddies are up to their zany tricks on the club-friendly "Take Ur Clothes Off," powered by Timbo's leftfield synthesizers and snapping instrumentation. Missy holds it down on the lyrical tip, dropping smirk-worthy rhymes to lighten up the track. "Been hot before Michael Jackson wore loafers/ Been rich before you even knew about Oprah," she quips. Reunited and it feels so good. (Rap-Up)
Last fall, Missy explained her preference to work behind the scenes with artists like R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan.
"People always be like, 'Where [you] been?' but you gotta remember, I got Jazmine Sullivan out there, I had Monica 'Everything [To Me']," Missy explained in an interview. "I'm always having artists that I'm doing records on so I'm just behind the scenes right now. I did the artist thing, now I'm just writing and producing...It's been a long time coming but she gon' be around for a long time. She's gon' make people have to step up they singing...Jazmine sing from the soul. She sing from a different place. She's not just a singer, she sings from a place where you feel like she been through those things before. And she got a husky voice and we haven't heard that really in R&B in a long time so she [has] a unique voice." (MTV)
She is reportedly working on a new record called "Blow Ya Whistle."
Lately, Missy E has been busy producing records for other artists, the latest one being Jazmine Sullivan's 'Holding U Down' but here's some good news for the fans. She will be finally returning to the scene with her brand new single called 'Blow Ya Whistle'. Apparently, her album is still titled Block Party. (Hip Hop N More)

Curren$y Burns Up Hip-Hop Stereotype, "I Think The Term Weed Rapper Is Wack"

From Curren$y's perspective, the stereotype gives a negative annotation to hip-hop.
"I think the term weed rapper is wack," Curren$y said in an interview. "I think it was created by rappers who are trying to use weed as a subject matter that will get them put on in the game, in a sense. If you remember in CB4 how that group had to make themselves be gangstas just to get on. So now weed rappers are people who are faking to be high all the time so that they could get on and be popular and rap. They're not high, they don't even know good weed. They're probably just smoking regular, killin' themselves but it's just like, 'All I do is rap about being high, so I can catch the wave like Spitta and 'em.' It's bullsh--. I don't just f--kin' talk about weed so I know it's that bullsh--." (RapFix)
The rapper recently told SOHH his three favorite celebrities he would get high with.
"I would want to f*cking smoke with Cheech Marin," Curren$y told SOHH. "I would want to smoke with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I don't know if he really smokes but it would be tight. I bet he has the best stories about the NBA. The last person I'd pick is [stand-up comedienne] Sandra Bernhard. She's like Andrew Dice Clay. I don't know where she is right now but I remember once she was doing an HBO special and took her shirt off and that was pretty tight." (SOHH)
Last year, rapper Devin the Dude talked to SOHH about modifying marijuana usage punishments.
"I'm very much for, at the very least, the decriminalization of weed. I wouldn't mind it being legal, but if the powers that be could at least decriminalize the punishment [for weed possession], I think it will be a lot better. I think it will help the nation a lot more than it will hurt it. I also think you could profit off of it too, medically and financially. And especially with getting the laws changed so that people wouldn't have to miss weeks of work and mess up their whole schedule because there's weed involved or with people having police kicking in doors and doing all kinds of crazy stuff because of a type of grass." (SOHH Guest Star)
Yesterday, April 20th, marked the annual debate on the drug's legalization.
420, 4:20 and 4/20 are all pot smoker code for lighting up, and each April 20 (get it?) crowds gather in cities across the U.S. to celebrate cannabis and push for laws okaying its use. Some toke for pleasure, others for better health. But what's the truth about "medical marijuana?" On one side of the debate are those who see pot as a near-miracle drug with benefits for a wide range of ailments, including cancer, HIV/AIDS, chronic pain, and neurological disorders. On the other are those who insist that scientific evidence to support these claims is iffy - and that the push to legalize marijuana across the country is just an excuse potheads use to keep themselves out of jail. Tupac.Uncencored.and.Uncut.The.Lost.Prison.Tapes.2011.DVDRip.XviD-SPRiNTER

Plot:
As Tupac’s interviewer announces, ‘Tupac, this interview is not about your trial, or your court appeals it is about Tupac, the inner man, then, and now.’ Featuring an uncut and never-before-seen interview at the Clinton Correctional Facility, Tupac Uncensored and Uncut: The Lost Prison Tapes presents a raw look into Tupac’s world, as the rapper riffs on topics ranging from his involvement with gang life to prisons in America to his relationship with his mother. What emerges is a moving self-portrait of an artist who sees himself as fundamentally misunderstood: He may have diagnosed thug life, but he didn’t invent it, and he is determined to uplift not destroy the black community. Capturing the intensity and passion of a fierce talent, Tupac Uncensored and Uncut: The Lost Prison Tapes offers a glimpse inside the mind of the enigmatic artist whose music is, in his own words, ‘all about life.’

Kid Cudi Still Puff, Puff Passes On The Sticky Icky

At a recent show, Cudder detailed his motivation for cutting off his herbal fix.
"You know how some people can take a smoke and they're good, they do it for recreational purposes, sh*t like that? People that go to bars or drink at their house with their friends casually. I was the motherf*cker who was doing that sh*t all the time, recreationally, every day, wake up, needed it, all those things. While I was in that state of mind I just was missing a lot of sh*t that was going on in my circle. I just felt like I needed to just take a step back, clear my dome and focus on some real important sh*t. Like my daughter for one. My family, my business, things that are important. But you know, don't be sad, I had a good run right? We got high together a lot right?" (Necole Bitchie)
Cudi broke the news of his sobriety in a blog posting on April Fool's Day.
"I dont smoke weed anymore. I'll leave it to the kids. Im 27 with a business to run and I need to be alert and focused with my mind strong. For those who still get it on, smoke one in my memory as your favorite lonely stoner. This is not a joke. I know most of you wanna see me all drugged out and f*cked up and i know misery loves company, but im sorry those days are over. I had a good run, Amsterdam and all. Im happy being sober. Im happy being a new me. Giva f*ck who thinks of me different, you didnt care about me in the first place if you cant be proud and happy for me for growing and starting a new chapter." (Kid Cudi's Tumblr)
The rapper also encouraged others to follow his lead.
"Im not your puppet or your tap dancing drug addict here to be your miserable muse, i always made music for me to help myself find understanding. I have finally learned from the words in my songs. I love who loves me and who really cares about me. Learn from this, theres always light at the end of the tunnel. Hell does have an exit, and i found it. For those who are looking for a way out, i left the door open, and ill be waiting for whoever wants to grow with me. Peace and Love, Cudi" (Kid Cudi's Twitter)
In summer 2010, Cudi said he conquered his cocaine addiction.
"No more blow. People do drugs to camouflage emotions and run away from their problems. Now I'm going to deal with certain things as they come, prioritize sh*t--man up, so to speak. Just for the record, it bugged me out that people said it was liquid cocaine [that I got arrested for over the summer]. No, I'm just f*cking rich, and my blow comes in a jar. There was no liquid in it--that sh*t makes no sense." (Complex)

Dr. Dre Wins Monster Payout, "For Years, Death Row Forgot About Dre"

Details of the ruling became public knowledge Wednesday (April 20).
The ruling by U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder ruling states that the rapper and producer has received far less money than he is due from online sales of the iconic 1992 album, which also helped launch the career of Snoop Dogg. The ruling does not call for a halt of digital sales of Dre's music, but entitles him to receive 100 percent of the proceeds of online sales. (Associated Press)
Following yesterday's ruling, Dre's attorney spoke on his client's win.
"For years, Death Row Records forgot about Dre when they continued to distribute his music digitally and combined his hits with weaker Death Row tracks in an attempt to elevate the stature of their other artists," Howard King said in a statement. "We are gratified that the federal court has unambiguously declared that Death Row has no right to engage in such tactics, and must hold all proceeds from these illicit distributions in trust for our client." (Statement)
Last year, a California judge tossed out Dre's previous claim of Death Row violating his trademark with a Chronic re-release .
On Monday, a California district court tossed his claims that Death Row's release of "The Chronic Re-Lit" violated his rights of trademark and publicity. However, the judge allowed another claim -- that he hasn't been paid royalties since splitting from Death Row in 1996 -- to be heard. In analyzing the case, California District Court Judge Christina Snyder applied the so-called "Monty Python" rule, after a 1976 case where a defendant extensively edited the TV comedy series in order to broadcast it on television. The question was whether the changes to Dr. Dre's album were more than "cosmetic." Snyder ruled the alterations were "minor and inconsequential." She also pointed out that the image used on the cover jacket is the same photograph from the original album, instead of a more current photo, which may have gone further to imply some new endorsement. Game Over Across The Border, "At Least They Let Me Call Home Before They Lock A N*gga Up"

Tweeting the news, Game also told his fans he would be locked up for two weeks.
"I haven't been able to get in Canada since the Documentary dropped !!! Its been a minute mayne. See y'all in 4 hours.... Now boarding," he tweeted Wednesday (April 20).
"Been in Customs for 3 hours....... #patienceIsAvirtue"
"Customs officials just denied me entry into Canada. I'm sorry 2 ALL my fans but I was mislead by promoters & assured I would be able 2 enter"
"This just in: I'm being detained in Canada for 14 days until they process my inadmissability then I'll have a hearing heard by a judge."
"At that point the judge will decide to either deport me or give me a sentence for violating Canada's immigrant entry laws."
"F%cked up situation !!! But at least they let me call home, & tweet before they lock a n!gga up !!! Gotta turn in my property, y'all be kool"
"Gotta give up my phone & property. This some straight bullshit ! Flew all the way from LA to be denied and detained ?!?! WTF" (Game's Twitter)

Gucci Mane Brrrr-eaks Free, Released From Jail

According to reports, Gucci's family did not rush to post his bail following his arrest.
(RumorFix)

Lil Wayne Schools 'Em W/ "Tha Carter IV" Art

Drawing close comparisons to 2008's Carter III, Wayne is displayed wearing a graduation gown on the album cover.
Despite the album being pushed to June 14th, the official album artwork for the Young Money CEO Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV LP has hit the interwebs and has the net talking. Following on from the tatted up baby picture used for Tha Carter III, this installment of Tha Carter series features a slightly older version of young Weezy with his trademark tattoos added. Go Weezy. (Soul Culture)
Last week, an alleged Carter IV tracklisting hit the Internet.
An unofficial tracklist for one of the most, if not the most, anticipated hip-hop albums of 2011 landed on the internet this week. Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV is scheduled for a May 16 release date, and on Thursday, Complex.com released what is a rumored album tracklisting for the Cash Money/Young Money superstar's upcoming project. The tracklist reveals Jay-Z, Eminem, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Birdman, Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, Swizz Beatz, Kanye West, Game and more as speculated contributors. (Hip Hop Wired)
Following the leak, the solo effort was pushed back to mid-June.
Sigh. Surprise, surprise. Lil Wayne has pushed back the release of Tha Carter IV from May 16 to an unspecified date in June. At least, that's what has been reported by Matt at Rap Dose, who spoke with a producer who's close to Weezy. No reason has been given as to why it's been delayed (AGAIN), but it apparently has nothing to do with the rumored track list that leaked earlier this week. Let's hope everything gets clarified soon and, you know, we can actual release date. Maybe after we hear another single? (Prefix Mag)

Drake Reveals Truth Behind New, Rugged Look

While not revealing what the film's title is, Drake said he would be hitting the big screen.
Nicki Minaj then asked Drake about the beard-and-curly-hair look he's been rocking lately, and he revealed that it was for a film role. In January, it was reported that the former "Degrassi: The Next Generation" star was joining the cast of "Arbitrage," which is set to star Susan Sarandon and Al Pacino. However, Drake relayed that he has "decided to work on my album instead of doing that particular film." (MTV)
Drizzy's manager, Cortez Bryant, recently discussed the rapper's emphasis on not taking typical acting roles.
"We wanna start entertaining these movie offers," Bryant said in the summer of 2010. "Drake is looking to come out with the role no one else expects. He's not gonna be the teen heartthrob or the college kid. He wants roles where he can show his acting skills. Like a sci-fi or action picture." (VIBE)

50 Cent Gets Cashed Out, Victimized In Credit Card Scam

Arrests have already been made on two suspects from Connecticut.
Rapper 50 Cent has been targeted by credit card fraudsters who have allegedly attempted to make unauthorized purchases using his account. Two men were arrested in West Hartford, Connecticut over allegations they tried to buy two $1,000 flatscreen TVs from a local electronics store last year using the hip-hop star's American Express number. The pair were detained by cops after the store owner became suspicious and called the credit card company. (Contact Music)
Additional credit card fraud cases involving 50 have also been reported.
Our source says thieves have tried to use Amex numbers belonging to Jackson to make unauthorized purchases in at least five cities since 2007, including Farmington and Hartford in Connecticut, as well as in New York. The root of Fitty's problem may be someone who has access to his personal information, adds the source. (New York Daily News)

Kanye West Fires Amber Rose Subliminal, "I Did Anything For That Blonde Dyke"

While performing his set, Yeezy stirred speculation after changing a few choice lyrics from his "Stronger" record.
After an energetic hour long set at the Californian music festival, West and rapper Wiz Khalifa nearly came to blows in an ugly confrontation over Khalifa's current girlfriend, the model Amber Rose. West, who used to date Rose, took a dig at his ex during a performance of his hit song 'Stronger.' The original lyrics of the song includes a line which says: "I'd do anything for a blonde dyke. And she'll do anything if the time's right". Yet, with Rose standing on the side of the stage, West altered the word to: 'I did anything for that blonde dyke. And she did anything when the time's right.' (Independent Online)
Additional reporting claims a possible verbal altercation may have followed the performance.
Afterwards, sources claim, Wiz confronted West about the lyrics, explaining, "Wiz didn't want to fight, he just wanted all this catty bulls**t to end." But the source says that there was no peace made. "Kanye said something to Wiz and next thing you know security and people's entourages were everywhere pushing and shoving. It could have got real ugly." (Zimbio)
Last month, Rose discussed the possibility of reuniting with West.
"No, I don't think so. You know in every relationship you have problems and you try to work through and then sometimes things don't work out. But it was very real for me. I was very much in love. Mobb Deep's Prodigy To Release "The Ellsworth Bumpy Johnson Story EP" Today

The Infamous Prodigy wastes no time after his release and continues to work hard in 2011 by releasing a new EP for supporters titled "The Ellsworth Bumpy Johnson Story EP" today.

Ever since Queens, New York emcee Prodigy was officially released from prison in early March, the Mobb Deep member has been keeping his itinerary full and he is adding to this by releasing a new EP today (April 19, 2011). Since his recent release, he's announced a book tour for My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deeb's Prodigy, he's released some tracks, including a shocking one featuring Nas, and he's been in the studio with associates since as early as the first day of his release.

Now, it seems those studio sessions are translating into more new music for fans as Prodigy has linked up with Complex Magazine to release a brand new EP. The Ellsworth Bumpy Johnson Story EP will be released exclusively through Complex. It is a seven track EP featuring production from Sid Roams, King Benny and Alchemist. M-O-B-B supporters can also expect to find Havoc on a track as the lone collaborating emcee.

The tracklist for Prodigy's Ellsworth Bumpy Johnson Story EP is below.
