From Ja's perspective, the rap game saw a significant change in the early 2000's.
"I do miss the old days because before the whole beef thing, we all used to get together, have softball games, and bond together," Rule explained in an interview. "I think that camaraderie got closer after Big and Pac passed, and I think we made a conscious effort as hip-hop artists to try and be better with each other. That era was great and then the G-Unit era came in and was built on so much hate, anger, and jealousy that I think it put everybody in that space, even the fans. And then all of a sudden, it wasn't fun no more. The whole aura changed. You'd get artists that followed that come up like, 'Wow, that sh*t worked for him. I'm gonna start a beef with such and such.' The whole vibe of hip-hop went dark." (Rap-Up)Earlier this year, Dipset's Cam'ron said his 2007-2009 beef with 50 Cent helped the state of hip-hop.
"I don't have no problem with 50. 50 cool with me," Cam said in January 2011. "It was good for hip-hop. We had our little hip-hop beef or whatever you wanna call it, but ain't no problem. Jim [Jones] and Juelz [Santana] do stuff with 50 and they camp all the time. I don't have a problem with 50 at all. It is what it is. We had our little discrepancy, and we moved on from it." (MTV)Last month, Rule promised his past issues with 50 Cent were no longer an issue.
"It's resolved now. I'm cool," Rule promised in an interview. "We ain't beefing no more...We'll never collaborate. That's just what it is. You don't have to be at war with somebody, but it's also kind of like U.S. and another country that may not get along with. We don't gotta go to war, but we're not friends either. But we can coincide inside of that world. He's doing him, and he's not thinking about me, and I'm doing me and I'm not thinking about him." (The Life Files)He also revealed his embarrassment for entertaining a war of words with 50 via Twitter in March.
"I was a little ashamed of myself to be even involved with that because I'm like, yo, I'm 35 years old and I'm on Twitter beef?," Rule added. "That's not something I would want to entertain, but I'm a man first, so I'm reading sh*t like him sending tweets and little things about me." (The Life Files)
