Big Sean On Turning Down Ink Jobs, "I Have No Tattoos"

G.O.O.D. Music's Big Sean may be following in Kanye West's artistic footsteps but the Detroit-bred emcee is not looking to get any tattoos on his body in the near future.
Sean credits his family and undecisiveness for fueling his no-ink zone rule.
"Yeah, there is a lack of ink," Sean told Tim Westwood. "I have no tattoos. I'm too undecisive. I'll decide on something and then the next week I'll be like, d*mn, I'm glad I didn't get that. The only thing I would get is like my mom or grandma [names] and they're like, 'Please don't get tatted. Please don't get no tattoos.' So sh*t, I might as well not get anything right now. I'm thinking about putting girls' names on there but you know, you never know." ("Tim Westwood TV")
Recently, Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em talked about removing his face tattoos.
"just woke in new york its a good day bless everybody reading this tweet live it up. i'm getting my face tattoos removed today," he tweeted August 4th. (Soulja Boy's Twitter)
The recent hype around face tattoos recently sparked a reaction from G-Unit leader 50 Cent.
"That's the craziest thing," 50 explained in an interview. "Not necessarily Gucci [Mane], but to tattoo your face says that there's not a possibility that you can actually walk into a legitimate establishment without makeup covering your face every day. That does not work. It creates a separation. It says, 'I'm an artist.' That's it. That's the statement you make when you go and tattoo your face...But know that the public will not have interest in you as an artist for life. You have to be phenomenal. Talk to the best that do it and they will tell you that it will take more than you being an artist. It takes marketing, maneuvering to generate for that long. When you got 40 year-old rappers in the game, those guys have maneuvered and survived." (VIBE)
Texas rapper Paul Wall recently spoke to SOHH about his "Tattoo Detox" product.
"It's a product called "Tattoo Detox". Most tattoo inks have different kinds of chemicals in them and some people might have an allergic reaction to or some tattoos take longer time to heal than others," Wall told SOHH. "This little product takes all of the little toxins and poisons out of there. My mom and dad be into all of the New-Age type of stuff so my pops found this product and said, 'Man, we ought to invest in this,' and we did. It takes the toxins out of the ink. It don't make it fade, it actually helps it heal a little bit better and makes you feel better. So that's the good thing. The only concern I ever had was if it was going to mess up how my tattoo looked. Of course, it doesn't at all. It actually makes it feel better. That's been going pretty well for us so far." (SOHH)
