Nas Says His Words Are Weapons, "That's Why 'Nasty' Is Out There"

Rap veteran Nas recently opened up about his new "Nasty" record picking up a strong nationwide buzz and said the track packs a bigger punch than some of his previous releases.

Nas feels his latest song offering is an example of what hip-hop needs to make a return to.

"You know 'Nasty' is what I would like the game to be right now in a lot of ways; back to the realness," Nasir told MTV News before performing with Damian Marley at Austin City Limits last weekend. "That's why 'Nasty' is out there, it's an M-80. I lit an M-80." The song's video was shot in Nas' native Queensbridge housing projects back in August, but its release has been delayed. Not to worry, says God's Son, it is on its way soon. "Yeah, the 'Nasty' video is coming. I can't wait 'til it hits, it's perfect timing," he said of the clip, which is directed by Decon. "It got pushed back 'cause -- I mean, I guess I got busy, but we shot it, so it's coming out for the people." (MTV)

The rap veteran's record premiered across the country around mid-June.

Nasty Nas is back to claim his throne with the first street single from his upcoming album Life Is Good. Over an old school, gritty production from Salaam Remi, QB's Finest spits verse after verse without a hook. "I'm not in the winters of my life or the beginning stage/ I am the dragon/ Maserati, pumpin' Biggie the great legend, blastin'/ I'm after the actress who played Faith Evans," he rhymes before declaring, "Make room for the king." Following its release, he also hit up Twitter to announce his return.

In early May, Nas revealed plans to recruit Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon for his upcoming Life Is Good solo LP.

"It's about to be solo time," Nas told Tim Westwood when asked about his next album. "Solo time, it's gonna be crazy. I heard something that [Damian Marley's] working on, he's gonna kill them. I'm excited to get him. I got two [songs]. I'm just starting. I did the writing but it's like, I've been so busy going all over the place. It's like, hard, so when we get back after we're done in Europe, we good for a while. But our thing continues. So when I drop the solo, [Damian] drops the solo, we still got tour offers. Non-stop and it's hard to stop the tour...I'm dying and D, I know you're dying to do the solo stuff too...Shout-out to Raekwon. I seen him last night. We're talking about dong some stuff.
