"Lil Wayne Still Has [Dreads] & He's The King Of The Young People"

With entertainers like Jim Jones and Lloyd recently cutting off their iconic long hair, SOHH reached out to fellow trend setter Murs to find out why he ended his reign of rocking long locks over the summer.

Despite the trend, Murs said Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne's decision to keep his dreads is a statement within itself.
"Maybe it was the time," Murs told SOHH, referring to the popular trend of artists cutting off their long hair. "Lil Wayne still has it and he's the king. Or he's the king of the young people I should say. It definitely had a lot to do with me, learning about myself. To me, it puts more pressure to stand out more from the action of my words rather than just the hairstyle. A lot of people think I smoke weed [because of the stigma associated with long locks]." Murs surprised fans by revealing his new hairstyle last June.
The Living Legends rapper reveals a new haircut and details on his newest music with a new producer. California rapper MURS took to Facebook this weekend to update his fans on his current state of affairs. Not only did he offer his supporters some information on his latest musical efforts, but he also revealed that his long-time signature look -- his dreadlocks -- are no more. (Above Ground Magazine)
A month prior, Dipset's Jim Jones showed off his short hairdo.
"RT @bossmobbsnagz: I HAD THE ORIGINAL FIRST PIC.... OF THE BIG HOMIE WENT FROM THUG TO GENTLEMAN....http://lockerz.com/s/99108723"
"Get a good look at th bad guy this th last time u see a bad guy look this good#SPOOKY #vampirelife #CAPO http://lockerz.com/s/99148565," Jones Tweeted Friday (May 6). (Jim Jones' Twitter)
In summer 2010, R&B singer Lloyd also chopped off his lengthy hair.
Lloyd's been rocking shoulder-plus length locks since way before he was crooning on 2004's "Southside" with Ashanti. But today the new Interscope signee (under Polow Da Don's Zone 4 imprint) hit up an Atlanta barbershop to switch up his 'do for a good cause - - he's donating to Locks for Love. (VIBE)
