"If You're Gay, You Should Have The Right To Be Gay In Peace"

Grammy-winning rapper T.I. opens up on the topic of homosexuality and gay rights in the new issue of VIBE magazine.

Within his cover feature, Tip describes his stance on all Americans having equal rights.

"Man, I will say this, the funniest joke I ever heard Tracy [Morgan] say during a stand-up was, 'C'mon man, I think gay people are too sensitive. If you can take a d*ck, you can take a joke.' [Cracks up laughing.] That sh*t was funny to me. And it's kind of true.' While T.I. makes clear that he supports anyone's sexual preference, he then connects, in his opinion, a current oversensitivity among gay people with a consequential and ironic offense of the First Amendment. "They're like,'If you have an opinion against us, we're gonna shut you down.' ... That's not American. If you're gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you're against it you should have the right to be against it in peace.'" (VIBE)

Over the summer, West Coast rapper Game said he felt there are undisclosed homosexual hip-hop artists in the rap game.

"I think there are several rappers that are in the closet and gay, and see those are the type of gay people that -- the only type of gay people that I have a problem with," Game said in an interview. "I don't have a problem with gay people. Like, Beyonce should've said, 'Who run the world? Gays,' because they're everywhere and rightfully so. Do you. It's a free country. Be gay, you can do that. Game don't have a problem with gay people....Game has a problem with people that are pretending not to be gay and are gay because the number one issue with that is that you could be fooling somebody and you could give them AIDS and they can die and so that in the closet sh*t is real scary. So, we've got to get into the real seriousness of it and it's just not fair to other people -- If you gay, just say you gay. Be gay and be proud." (Hot 107.9)

Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon previously weighed in on gay rappers.

"My mouth is too small to suck a d*ck," Raekwon added. "How the f*ck do you convert over to do some sh*t like that? How do motherf*ckers get into that sh*t? The males? The females, they gonna do what they do. I ain't gonna front, I can't stand f*cking h*mos. That sh*t is just f*cking disgusting. They can never holla at me. Get the f*ck away from me, immediately." In August, openly gay author Terrence Dean questioned why no black celebrity has come forward about their non-traditional sexual preference.

"This controversial topic has plagued our communities, and world, for a long time. And, despite the many hush-hush conversations, or speculations of a certain celebrity's sexuality, not one Black celebrity has come forward. Not one has publicly announced they are gay. Why? You mean to tell me that in this day and age of us having a Black president, and a repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' that not one Black celebrity will come forward and be who they are, and love who they desire, without fear of judgment or ridicule?"
