Erykah Badu & Cee-Lo Green Blown Away By The Chef

Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon recently updated fans on the status of an upcoming C.R.E.A.M biopic centered on his life story and how his gritty script blew away co-stars/singers Erykah Badu and Cee-Lo Green.

As things stand now, the "Chef's" script tells a story about overcoming adversitiy.
There's also a biopic in development, which he says will star Erykah Badu and Cee Lo Green as his parents. Raekwon says the pair "had an opportunity to see the script. They read it, and they were blown away." "It's a life story that paints a picture of an urban guy in the inner city," Raekwon continues, "and all they know is they wanna get out of here one way or another, whether they're making money in the street or whether they get a job. There are just so many obstacles you have to go through to learn how to survive the streets, because you want this green so bad." (Billboard)
In September, Rae said his movie idea developed during the making of his 2009 solo album.
"When I was working on my album [Only Built 4] Cuban Linx II, I actually sat down with a couple of my guys from my company and we wrote a story basically about my life," Rae explained in an interview. "It's called C.R.E.A.M -- [and] we finally got it together where it's a great biopic film about a kid such as myself growing up in an urban neighborhood and having to deal with the day-to-day [life], having to grow up in a single [parent situation] where your moms, she's your mother and your father. All you know is the streets, you pay attention to things that go on [there] and then there become choices that you make. There's been things that I've been involved with in my life, some good, some bad, but I consider myself having a full life. I just wanted to put it in a great storyline and basically give the young kid that's coming from where I came an opportunity to see the things that I've been through because he may be able to relate." A month prior, Rae dished out details about the film revealing Cee-Lo's involvement.
"Cee-Lo Green [is] playing my pops in the film," Chef revealed in an interview. "Cee-Lo is gon' play Raekwon's ol' dad! ... [He's] a good friend of mine. When I called him and told him about it he was just overwhelmed. He's just one out of the greats that's gonna be on the project...We're definitely going for the theaters. The people that are gonna be involved with it definitely feel like it's a great picture, and there's a definite possibility it's a Lions Gate film." (XXL Mag)
A couple years ago, Rae hinted at his plans to venture into the Hollywood scene.
"I'm starting to really do that film thing," Raekwon told DJ Whoo Kid in an interview. "Cause I had to go to LA to really invest what's going on with that paper. Because when you do this rap sh*t so long, you kinda wanna go to another level with it. I've been scheming on that since RZA been out there. We always been involved with that because we always got people calling us to do sh*t. I just wanted to go out there and I bumped into a little gold mine." (Radio Planet TV)
