A man charged with killing an Atlanta rapper at a recording studio has turned himself in to police. Vinson Hardimon, known as rapper Young Vito, surrendered to Atlanta police Monday afternoon. He was handcuffed and taken to the Fulton County jail. Police say the 28-year-old shot and killed 24-year-old Mario Hamilton, known as rapper Slim Dunkin, on Dec. 16 at an Atlanta recording studio. Detective David Quinn says police still need more information in the case. Quinn says Hardimon's attorney called police and said Hardimon wanted to surrender. "The person that killed my son, please turn yourself in for the sake of our family," she said in a video. "Thank-you. I'm the mother of Mario Hamilton. Please turn yourself in." The video goes on to show a high capacity funeral setting with a closed casket for Slim Dunkin. Attendees are shown paying their respects to Slim Dunkin, who is placed in a fancy white casket. Police identified the man they're seeking as 28-year-old Vinson Hardimon, a rapper known as Young Vito. Police Maj. Keith Meadows said the 24-year-old Slim Dunkin, whose real name was Mario Hamilton, was shot to death in the chest Friday after getting into an argument with another person that evening. He was taken to a city hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police are urging Hardimon to turn himself in because they have reason to believe he may be in danger. Police claim that rapper Slim Dunkin, real name, Mario Hamilton was killed after having a fight over a small piece of candy. According to news reports, Slim Dunkin grabbed a piece of candy out of a man's hand which led to a fight, which in turn led to the shooting. Slim Dunkin was affiliated with popular rappers, Waka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane. Police say they believe a fight over candy preceded the slaying of an Atlanta rapper over the weekend. "This fight spilled out into this area where he was attacked. Based on the evidence we have, whoever he was fighting with secured a weapon and shot him," Detective David Quinn of the Atlanta Police Department said. (News One)
