Elephant Man Arrested For Being A Rude Boy, Named In Sexual Assault & Rape Case

Reggae star Elephant Man is making headlines this week after getting arrested a few days ago on a sexual assault and suspicion of rape charge.

Details of his Monday (January 30) arrest have begun circulating online.
Hip hop star Elephant Man -- the guy behind the 2004 hit "Jook Gal" -- was arrested in Jamaica Monday on suspicion of raping a woman at his St. Andrew home last month. According to local reports, police launched an investigation after the alleged victim filed a report. One Jamaican media outlet says E.M. -- real name Oneil Bryan -- was questioned with his lawyer present ... and after the interrogation, officials decided they had enough information to charge the rapper with grievous sexual assault and rape. The rapper has since posted bail and is not due in court until this spring.
Elephant Man, was granted bail in the sum of $400,000 when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court this afternoon. Elephant Man, whose real name is Oniel Bryan, appeared in a black outfit and appeared to be in an upbeat mood as he chatted with his attorney Linda Wright. He is charged with the rape and sexual assault of a 31-year-old woman. The incident happened at his St Andrew home, police say. He was arrested on Monday and will reappear in court for a preliminary hearing on May 21. (Jamaica Observer)
He last made news headlines a couple months ago over a concert no-show.

The Kingston, Jamaica native has been successful on the charts. Elephant Man has had two No. 1 albums ("Good 2 Go") (2003) and "Let's Get Physical" (2008)) chart on the Reggae Albums chart. He's also held two slots in the top 20 of the Rap Songs chart with "Pon De River, Pon De Bank") (2003) and "Jook Gal (Wine Wine)" (2004). (Billboard)
