Iggy Azalea On Her Sexual Swag, "When I First Came Out People Said, She Only Raps About Her Vagina"

New signed Grand Hustle artist, Iggy Azaela, speaks on her criticized sexual appeal and why Americans need to loosen up in the latest issue of Complex magazine.

Iggy credits her sex appeal as an empowering, rather than demeaning, characterisitic of her swagger.

"There's sexy and there's beautiful. Sexy is: I have the power, you want me, and I can f*ck around with it. I like that feeling. At home, I want to feel beautiful--not like I'm dominating someone. If I come home dressed like I am in my videos, that would be weird. [Laughs.] ... [Are Americans uptight about sex?] So much of what I do that's controversial in America wouldn't be a big deal back home. America is a highly sexualized society but people are afraid to admit what they like. When people tell me that I have to be sexy that's demeaning, not powerful. ... To a lot of people, a powerful, sexy woman is vulgar. When I first came out people said, she only raps about her vagina. I'm not a vagina rapper! [Laughs.] I talk about many other things." (Complex)

She also talked about the perception of her "P*$$y" and "My World" music videos.

"The video for that could've been way more sexual. I held back because I didn't think people could handle it. [Laughs.] I didn't mean for the skirt to be that short. [Laughs.] I got that off eBay. I knew my a** was hanging out of it but whatever. When we were shooting the video the police were like, "We heard you guys were filming a porno." They thought we were filming Bang Bus. [Laughs.] I told them, "I'm a sexy boxer lady and these are my two cheerleading friends--this is art, guys!" (Complex)

Recently, Grand Hustle affiliate DJ Drama talked to SOHH about Iggy's current buzz outside of her sex appeal.

"I definitely think Iggy has a lot to prove as a new artist," Drama told SOHH. "I'm interested in her, I've seen some of her music videos as well as her music and I think there's definitely some stuff I like. I think it's going to be a very interesting year as far as what she's going to accomplish and what she'll be able to accomplish. I actually started paying attention to her last year. I think she has a lot of potential and she's a very nice person from my interaction with her. I think she has a great story behind her. I wish her the best and look forward to working with her. I think she definitely has the potential to make quality music so don't be surprised if she's on [my upcoming album] Quality Street Music." (SOHH)

A few weeks ago, Tip officially added Iggy to his growing team.

"Tip reached out just to meet me, to say hello, and I found a position for him, conveniently, where he could be used," Azalea explained. "And he was down with it; that's the truth." Affectionately referring to Azalea as "The Iggamonster," T.I. also added his recollection of their first conversation. "I think her exact words were: 'It's very smart of you to call me because I'm going to be smashing sh-- for quite some time now and no one will be able to breathe if they're not on my team. So it's good that you'll be here, so you'll have oxygen." In addition to working with Azalea and Trae, T.I. also added British rapper Chip (formerly known as Chipmunk) to Grand Hustle Records.
