Rick Ross Gives 'God Forgives' Dark Feel, Promises It's "My Best Project Yet"

Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross has set the standard for his upcoming God Forgives, I Don't solo album, promising it will outshine all of his past gold and platinum-selling efforts.

Ricky Rozay also revealed how dark the album's content will be for listeners.

"This is my best project yet," Ross declared, draped in all black and sparkling diamonds while sitting at his MMG press conference, reminiscent of a boss giving orders before his capos. "God Forgives, I Don't is a very dark story. ... It's extremely lyrical. The music is next level -- I'm expecting nothing but the biggest results. The collaborations is gonna surprise a few of you guys. ... I think the stories being told on this record is going to make it stand apart from all the other albums I've ever done. By the time you get to track two, you gonna understand this is a completely different body of work." (MTV)

Last month, the "Boss" credited renowned Hollywood director Martin Scorsese for inspiring the LP.

"God Forgives, I Don't. First and foremost, the title, I wanted to approach it like let's say Scorsese would have approached a film. I wanted it to be a bold statement, a dark statement, and have music to tell that story behind it," Ross explained in an interview. "So it felt like a film or a motion picture when you listening to it. That's the type of detail I really put into it. ... It's just like when I fulfill one of my dreams and start directing film one day, I'm going to bite Scorsese angles. I'm going to use the Scorcese lens. I think if you great within yourself, you take that, you ain't even tripping." (Booska-P)

Ross and other Maybach Music Group albums are slated to drop this summer.

First up will be MMG's Self Made, Vol. 2, which is set to drop on June 26. Following will be Rozay's highly-anticipated LP, God Forgives, I Don't, which Ross announced will be coming out July 31. Finally, MMG announced Meek Mill's debut album, Dreams & Nightmares, for an August 28 release date. (XXL Mag)

All of this comes just days after he held a publicized press conference which featured the likes of music moguls including Diddy boasting about his hip-hop stature.

"Everytime you hear that Australian girl saying Maybach Music, your d*ck gets hard, or at least my d*ck gets hard," Diddy said. "His actual records off his mixtapes are so hot that they get on the radio without any promotion. He is the hottest rapper of this generation -- he's like a jazz singer or a soul singer or a gospel singer. It just touches your heart in that way. He's a genius to me, he's my brother, I know he will go down in history as one of the greatest record men. I knew he was a great one and I didn't give a f*ck what everyone else was saying. And now they all on ur d*ck! He's an artist that's gonna change the world." (SOHH)
