NYC Club Responds To Tony Parker's $20 Mil Lawsuit, "Chris Brown & Drake Are Not Biggie & Tupac"

The New York City nightclub where music stars Drake and Chris Brown made headlines this month for their entourages' brawl has now responded to the $20 million lawsuit filed against it by NBA champion Tony Parker.

According to reports, the W.i.P. nightclub insists it has no direct connection to Drizzy and Breezy's physical altercation.
But sources close to the club tell TMZ that Drake and Chris Brown are not prone to such violence, with one source saying, "Chris Brown and Drake are not Biggie and Tupac." We're told the club feels the fight was out of their control and they did everything they could to stop it as quickly as possible. Our sources say the club finds Tony's allegation they were understaffed to be ridiculous ... saying they had around 15 security guards working that night and the owners personally choose who goes in the club and who doesn't. So far, no charges have been filed related to the brawl, but the case is still under investigation by the NYPD. (TMZ)
Reports of Parker's $20 million lawsuit went public earlier in the week.
The club is also facing a $20 million lawsuit from NBA star Tony Parker over injuries he sustained in the fight. The suit centers around many of the same charges the club is facing from the liquor authority: they didn't do enough to stop the fight, they didn't have enough security working when the fight started, and they should have known better than to let two guys who've publicly feuded for the same girl into the club at the same time. Parker was in the V.I.P. section when the fight broke out, and suffered an injury to his cornea in the ensuing melee. An injury to his eye, the suit argues, isn't exactly great for Parker's basketball career. Therefore, $20 million please. (The Atlantic Wire)
The basketball star claimed he nearly lost an eye from the bottle-throwing fight.
NBA superstar Tony Parker said Friday he was hit in the eye by shards of glass when bottles started flying and exploding at the W.I.P. club. The 6-foot-2-inch point guard said he was living it up with pals at the SoHo nightspot "when a fight broke out" early Thursday between the posses of rapper Drake and R&B star Chris Brown. Parker, who is supposed to play for France in the Summer Olympics next month, said he could have lost an eye. (New York Daily News)
Since the altercation, reports claim W.i.P. could potentially have its doors closed for good.
The State Liquor Authority filed 14 charges yesterday against the trendy SoHo nightclub where Drake and Chris Brown had a bloody throw-down over Rihanna -- and the place could soon be shut down. The charges against W.i.P. -- and the Greenhouse club where it's located -- include one count of not stopping the bloody June 14 bottle brawl that started when Drake allegedly sent Brown a note, taunting the hip-hop star by saying, "I am f--king the love of your life." The bar was slapped with seven other charges for other fights, noise violations and two drug-related incidents -- at least one where marijuana was found at the bar. (New York Post)
