You don’t have to be an artist to be in the limelight and at the forefront of a movement. DJ Mo Beatz knows that first hand, being Big Sean’s DJ, traveling the world and being an essential part of the Finally Famous crew. Down in Los Angeles, OnSMASH caught up with Mo Beatz, as he explained how he got his start DJ’ing and a few memorable moments in his career thus far. Getting his start in Detroit, Mo Beatz was DJ’ing on the radio and through parties, and once Big Sean’s movement started growing, he asked Mo to join him on the road. Life on tour might be a little rough at times, but he emphasizes that they do this for the fans. Even when he’s sick or jet lagged, they muster up the energy to give the fans a great show they won’t forget (ie. something like Big Sean’s homecoming show in Detroit, which ended up to be a sold out show, with no special guests being announced). Aside from being part of an Adidas global campaign, Mo Beatz likes the fact they get to travel and see the world, while on the road. Most notably, one time in Paris, the fans surprised Mo and sang happy birthday to him without expectation. That is the type of love from fans that makes it all worth it to him.
