Rick Ross Says He's Destined For The Top, "I'm Enjoying My Last Few Moments At No. 2"

Miami rapper Rick Ross discusses his plan to take center stage and shake off second best status with the release of his upcoming solo album, God Forgives, I Don't in the new issue of XXL Magazine.

Within his feature, Ross acknowledges he does not currently occupy hip-hop's top spot.

"I'm enjoying my last few moments at No. 2," Ross says, sitting on the bed in the back of his tour bus. "It's like I'm watching the No. 1 man on stage, my legs crossed, I'm smoking big, hollering at the b*tches in the crowd. And this album gonna do it. I got the formula." His sunglasses are off, and his eyes are heavily lidded but alive. "Everybody on my d*ck," he says, "like they supposed to be." (XXL Magazine)

A few weeks ago, Young Money rapper Drake hyped up Ricky Rozay's Teflon Don follow-up.

"This guy right here," Drake said motioning to Ross as the two sat at Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV release party Sunday, "That God Forgives I Don't; the only way I can describe it is like Doggystyle or Ready to Die or Clipse Lord Willin' or any of the albums that I collected and held on to as a kid -- whether it was cassette or CD." Over the summer, Def Jam South president DJ Khaled labeled Ross' upcoming LP a predestined classic.

"God Forgives, I Don't is a classic-in-the-making. Let me tell you something right now: This album is so crazy from the beginning of what I've been in the studio hearing already," Khaled said in an interview.. "I can't give you too much because I'm going to let him do that, because that's his project, but I could tell you right now it's classic and he is talking that talk. God Forgives, I Don't, it fits the time because right now it's no rules. We don't see 'em; we going hard and that's what Ross is doin'." (MTV)

In January, the "Boss" announced plans to drop God Forgives, I Don't as the follow-up to 2010's Teflon Don.

"I'm in Swisher Studios right now working on my new project," Ross told Power 105.1 radio hosts DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Angela Yee. "50 percent of the album [is] already [done]. This is the first time I'm revealing it, but the name of the album is God Forgives, I Don't...One of the records that I excluded off the [Ashes To Ashes] mixtape was 'Made Men' featuring the homie Drake. I wanted to put some final touches on it and I wanted to give you the opportunity to bless the world with that." (Power 105.1)
