Despite label drama with Murder Inc., a label which never released her long-awaited solo debut, Baltimore said she is focused on getting new music out to the fans.
"My personal life overshadowed a lot of my music, which is kinda sad because I know for a fact that I can write really well," said Charli. "But, you know, at this point in my life I feel like that's in the past. The stuff happened so long ago that it's not really relevant to anything that's going on now, so hopefully the music can speak for itself and all of my personal life, stuff that went on that people are kind of intrigued with, will stay behind the scenes." (Hip Hop DX)In December, reports suggested her untitled new LP is hitting retail shelves this spring.
Female rap veteran Charlie Baltimore is poised to make a return to hip-hop with an upcoming album due to be released next year. The Grammy Award nominated rapper, born Tiffany Lane, recently dropped a new single titled "Machine Gun," featuring Sally Anthony. The track is meant to reintroduce Charli Baltimore before the release of her solo album, which is due in stores this April. "Machine Gun" is due in stores on iTunes on December 20. (All Hip Hop)A couple years ago, Charli talked about her four-year communication gap with Murder Inc. CEO Irv Gotti.
"I actually saw Irv in the summertime," Baltimore revealed in an interview with DJ Whoo Kid. "Me and Irv aren't on best terms but we speak, we're cordial. It's nothing. We didn't speak for four years. So yeah, actually, we didn't speak for four years but I'm over it. It is what it is. You just gotta keep moving on. Because if you [continue to talk about it], you just sound like, it's almost like being institutional." (Radio Planet TV)In 2009, Baltimore offered her take on Lil Kim claiming she was late rapper Notorious B.I.G.'s girlfriend.
"Kim goes out of her way to say she was B.I.G.'s girl," Charli said in an interview. "No, Kim wasn't his girl. Straight up! She wasn't. She benefited from the situation because she became Lil Kim. She has a career and she's grateful to a n*gga for helping her in that aspect, but she was never his girl...B.I.G. and I were together. He bought me a car. I mean n*ggas wasn't doing stuff for no reason. It was no game!" (Hip Hop Gossip Site)
