DMX Says He's 'Not That' Dude, "Catch Me In Traffic Or Don't Catch Me At All"

Embattled rapper DMX may be tweeting these days but the recently freed ex-Def Jam star says he is not the mastermind behind his Twitter acount.

According to X, he does not get down with keeping fans abreast of his minute-to-minute activities.

"My assistant does," X said when asked if he has a Twitter page. "I'm not that dude. I'm not that dude that's gonna sit there, type 'I'm going to the bathroom.' Nah. That's not me. You know what I'm saying? Catch me in traffic or don't catch me at all." (97.9)

Over the summer, hip-hop pioneer DMC cited frequent Twitter updates as one of the most unpopular trends in 2011.

"The cold sh*t is this. I just got up on Twitter, and at first I refused to [join]. With Twitter, we don't care about every little thing you do, man. I don't need to know when you're going to the gym. Use Twitter to inspire, educate, update and motivate people. I hate those people that are like 'I'm sitting in the restaurant looking at Shaq right now.' Who the f*ck cares if you looking at Shaq? So all of that every second of the day, what you do [...] I don't care what Mariah Carey does, I don't care what Dwayne Wade does." (SOHH Cold Trends)

After an imposter made a fake page going at Slaughterhouse's Royce Da 5'9 last month, rapper Benzino hit up SOHH and said he has never been down with Twitter.

"Sh*t is crazy, man," Zino told SOHH. "You know what's so messed up? Honestly, like I'm not really a Twitter [person]. Like I'd rather say it to someone's face or the next best thing -- do an interview so they know its coming from me, but definitely, [the Twitter account] @King_Benzino ain't me. I never had noTwitter and never will. I'm from the old school -- I don't put too much real estate in Twitter, man. 'Cause at the end of the day, it's just some sh*t that doesn't exist, man. It's like The Matrix." (SOHH)

Rap legend Kool G Rap recently talked about not fully co-signing social networking.

"I can't really get with it, you know...to me what people [are] doing is basically putting a camera in their house and giving to the public,' Kool G explained in an interview. "I mean, I can't do that, you know what I mean. It's like, I got G. Rap, that's for my fans, that's for the public. Who I am behind closed doors and my family or myself is something that I keep for myself. That's part of the old school of me I can't let go...I got people that are constantly promoting on Twitter and Facebook...Once in a while I do my personal thing here and there, especially when it's like people I'm shouting [out] that I have a relationship with, or there's somewhat of an acquaintance."
