During his first evening as a free man, the Samurai Rabbit of the MMG clan spoke with NBC6 South Florida about being acquitted of all charges (despite being caught on camera).
I feel humbled. I feel blessed. I feel like I hit the lotto. I’m just happy to be back with my friends and family. I just wanted to publicly for the record apologize to the two parties involved, my family, the victim’s family. Shout out to the boss – you already know the Miami mayor, man, was behind me the whole time. And I ain’t going to blow it.I’m ready to work. I’m real focused.

Apparently in the state of Florida, video proof isn’t enough for a convition. Earlier today, Gunplay dodged the life sentence he was facing for aggravated assault and armed robbery on his accountant.
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office tells TMZ, “Video alone is not enough to convict an individual of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt.” The office continues, “Although the armed robbery is captured on the victim’s surveillance system, the victim, Turron Woodside, is uncooperative of the prosecution of this defendant Richard Morales [Gunplay].”Interesting. And once asked what he’s gonna do now that the charges have been dropped?
Today I am grateful and blessed that the case was dismissed. I plan on picking up where I left off with my music and making hits with my upcoming debut album. The first thing I am going to do today is smoke a joint, relax, play video games, and just be with my loved ones.

We all know Wale is a fan of all of his hometown’s teams (Redskins, Wizards, Nationals, et al), which I’ve got to hand to him because more often than not at least one (if not all at any given point in time) of his favorites aren’t doing well. Tonight the Wizards played against the Toronto Raptors, and Wale got into a heckling match against the Rap’s newly-acquired swingman Rudy Gay. The incident was caught on camera, which prompted Raptors play-by-play announcer Matt Devlin to add his own two cents (as you can listen to above). That obviously didn’t sit too well with Wale, who approached their booth later on that night (see down bottom). NBA action; it’s fantastic.
“I ran through that buck fifty Live Nation fronted me/They workin’ on another deal, they talkin’ two hundred fifty!/I’m holdin’ out for three/Two seventy five and I just might agree.”
Nostradamus-type of prediction, maybe? According to Billboard, Jay and the (new) Roc signed “worldwide publishing administration deals with Warner/Chappell Music,” giving Jay the rights back to his music post-Def Jam (starting with The Blueprint 3, all the way to Watch The Throne) as well as future works, with most of his older catalog moving to the Warner umbrella within the year.
A separate deal will put the past and future catalogs of Roc Nation’s stable of artists on the publisher’s roster immediately, including songwriters Philip Lawrence (Bruno Mars, Flo Rida, Cee-Lo Green), S1 (Kanye West, Beyonce, 50 Cent), Carmen Key (Flo Rida, David Guetta), and British singer Rita Ora, among others. So… Jay-Z is, somehow, getting paid “Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon”-style off of Flo Rida? Yeah, I’m in the wrong corner of the music business.
