Jay-Z - Evolution of Style

Eminem Going @ Jay-Z and Kanye West!!!!!!!

the beginning of the track, Eminem proclaims his return -- which never came until 2009 -- before calling out Jay-Z and Kanye with a short bar. "They keep on saying the same rappers are the best / Jay-Z and Kanye West," he spits. "Maybe they're just trying to distract you from the fact that I'm coming back / Or maybe it's cause I ain't black / Maybe it's because of that / Maybe it's because I'm the highest selling artist in rap." (Baller Status)

It's unclear when Em recorded his version, which leaked over the weekend, but we're guessing it was back around then when he was still using drugs and generally retired from the game. He sounds both hungry and cloudy on the track, often rapping with the vicious anti-social humor that made his older material standout but sounding at times like he has pills spewing out the sides of his mouth. (The Boom Box)

Eminem Recovery wins the Grammy for Best Rap Album and with it comes several not so new tracks to hit the internet. Studioleaks.info, the site that recently leaked Lil Wayne's snippet of "You and I," dropped a whole project of previously unheard Eminem tracks. The mixtape/EP, titled Straight From the Vault EP, features eleven Eminem songs, varying in time periods judging by Em's ever-changing flow on the tracks. The release has very few cameos, including one with Obie Trice on "Emulate Me," one with B.o.B. on "Things Get Worse," and another featuring D12 titled "Going Crazy." (RapFix)

Wise Intelligent Talks "Illuminati" And Why Jay-Z's Membership Is Irrelevant

Wise Intelligent Talks

HipHopDX: Your new joint, “Illuminati,” addresses [Jay-Z’s] long-rumored ties to that secret society, but you dismiss his inclusion in the Illuminati, or any other rapper’s for that matter, as ridiculous. Why? Wise Intelligent: I’m not dismissing inclusion, what I’m saying is it’s irrelevant if they are. What would be the point? The Illuminati…goes way back to the Crusades, and way back before that. These people were about world conquest and world domination. And they’ve already dominated and conquered the world, and [so] there’s no need to have a card carrying rapper member. What is the point? There’s no point in it. What is the criteria? What would he be doing that would benefit an apparatus that has already conquered the world? I don’t understand that; that just doesn’t make sense to me.

I think we need to focus more attention on the fact that public schools are being shut down intentionally, to disenfranchise many urban youth, from whom Hip Hop came. If this is about Hip Hop and the youth that created Hip Hop and where Hip Hop comes from, and everybody talking about “this is where Hip Hop lives,” we need to be focusing our attention on what’s happening to the children that produced Hip Hop, that brought Hip Hop to the world. And we’re not even talking about that, we’re talking about Jay-Z. It’s like, yo, Jay-Z is ill, Jay-Z is probably the illest emcee that ever wrote rhymes, but when we get right down to it, if we talking about the Illuminati…we need to get into what’s happening in plain view.

My point was to bring the Illuminati out of the boogieman space. It’s not a boogieman; it’s legislators that are right now passing legislation that disenfranchises so many people. We’re talking about 1% of the population in America controlling 50% of the wealth, controlling more wealth than 50% of the people here. We have 10% of the people all over the world making life miserable for 90% of the world and [all] we wanna talk about is Jay-Z gay, is Kanye gay? Are they in this secret society? It’s not a secret society, it’s right in your face. Everything they’re doing is right in your face. Everything.

So, let’s deal with that; let’s deal with those things. Let’s deal with all the sterilization programs they have going on around the world. Let’s talk about that. Let’s talk about the overthrowing of Egypt. Let’s talk about the overthrowing of the Middle East right now. Let’s talk about that! We don’t wanna discuss these things. Let’s talk about how mainstream corporations control what we see and hear everyday.

So my whole thing about the “Illuminati” [song], it’s about a protest – protesting disenfranchisement of the large majority of the population of this planet. That’s the bottom line. So Jay-Z don’t have nothing to do with that. Jay-Z didn’t start the eugenics programs. Jay-Z didn’t do that.

DX: You mentioned protest music…do you have any objections to Lupe Fiasco declaring on his latest single “Words I Never Said” that “Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist / Gaza Strip was gettin’ bombed, Obama didn’t say shit / That’s why I ain’t vote for him, next one either”?
Wise Intelligent: That’s some powerful shit. I love Lupe Fiasco. I love Lupe Fiasco because he keeping it real, and that’s what Hip Hop is for me. Hip Hop is the other side of the story. Hip Hop is not the official mainstream story that becomes the official story. Hip Hop is, Nah man, Amadou Diallo didn’t have a gun; he had a wallet. Nah, Oscar Grant wasn’t resisting arrest. Nah, Barack – c’mon Barack, you gave $800 million to the prison industrial complex. Why? When you know that there’s a predatory system that targets inner city youth.

So…yes, yes, I support everything in that line right there. If Lupe Fiasco said it, if that’s what he said, yes, I agree. He has the right to say those things. I think that they need to be said. And they need to be able to be said in the mainstream platforms – from everywhere, from HipHopDX to Clear Channel. It needs to be propagated; it needs to be put out there. That’s the other side. And that’s what Hip Hop was from the beginning; it was the other side of the story. And that’s what’s missing right now. It’s not that heads are not making conscious music anymore, it’s because mainstream corporations don’t want it on the air – for what it is, and for what it has the ability to do. Same thing that happened in Egypt; Hip Hop has the ability to do that. It was Hip Hop that moved those kids in South Africa to confront apartheid. So let’s keep it real official, man. Lupe Fiaco’s keeping it official.

Juvenile Arrested In Louisiana Yesterday

The former most famous Hot Boy, Juvenile, was arrested in Louisiana yesterday for driving on a suspended license. Police also found marijuana in his possesion. He has already been released on $750 bond.
Ironically, Juve was arrested for basically the same charge a year ago; almost the exact day.

Birdman "Ain't Trippin'" Over Jay-Z's Sub Disses

YMCMB's head honcho appeared on Big Boy's Neighborhood while out west last week for All-Star Weekend and answered questions on his spending habits. When asked what the biggest check he had ever received was,Birdman answered, "$100 million." He then went on to boast about how many whips he's pushing, upcoming ventures for Cash Money and cleared up any rumors of having beef with Jay-Z over his sneak diss on 'H.A.M'. "We ain't trippin', we spending Baby Money." Looks like Stunna's using the Baby Money thing as his new motto. (Complex)

Lil Wayne Stopped & Searched By Federal Agents

Lil Wayne had one hell of a greeting party at Opa-Loca Airport in Miami earlier this week -- where the rapper was stopped and searched by federal agents after he got off his plane ... TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources tell us ... multiple agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency performed a contraband search on Weezy ... who's currently on felony probation stemming from incidents involving drugs and guns. But Weezy was squeaky clean -- so the agents let the rapper go on his way with no further incident. (TMZ)

Kanye West Booed In His Own Hometown

Apparently the United Center crowd was not honored by Kanye West's lateness on Thursday. The Chicago rapper, who arrived at his courtside seat late in the first quarter of the Bulls-Miami Heat game, was booed when he was later introduced to the crowd. So why did the Chicago crowd boo one of its own? West has turned so many people off with his arrogance and temper tantrums. Recently he just went overboard with his abortion tweets, and pissed of Lily Allen who recently suffered two miscarriages. We Love Ye' and he has been booed before- that doesn't stop his talent sales or music!!! (Tattle Tailzz)

Bloody-Faced Rihanna '09 Assault Pics Leak, Chris Brown Responds

Graphic new photos of Rihanna -- reportedly taken after the singer was assaulted by Chris Brown in 2009 -- have leaked online, just two days after Brown's restraining order against his ex-girlfriend was eased by a judge. The images, which appeared on MediaTakeOut, further reveal the extent of the injuries that Rihanna sustained from the beating. One shows the singer with a bruised and partially closed eye, while another reveals a split lip up close. (Billboard)

The images reportedly were taken at a hospital where RiRi was treated after her fight with Breezy. One picture shows short-haired Rihanna with bruises on her forehead, eyes and cheeks. Her right eye and cheek are badly swollen. The other picture gives a closer look at her injured lips. (Ace Showbiz)

In a series of posts, Brown writes, "It's ironic how 'somebody' put this out right around my album time! Wow! I guess that's supposed to be strategic chess move. Unbelievable." He later added, "The Devil is always busy!! But when u have a destiny, nothing or no one can stop what God has planned!" The posts were later removed and replaced by a more positive message, reading: "The beauty is inside you!!! Don't let em bring you down!!!!! Beautiful people!" (Toronto Sun)

"Kim, You've Had A Problem W/ Foxy, Nicki, Faith, Charli [&] Everybody"

"Had [Kim] let the people say, 'Oh [Nicki], you're trying to be Kim, you're a fake Kim,' then it doesn't come directly from her," Foxy explained in an interview. "But when you're using that as a platform to bring your new album out, that's like, 'Oh my God, wait a minute.' I don't condone it at all; I don't think it's cute. Nicki clearly drew from both Kim and me. And she hasn't been disrespectful to me in any way -- I haven't heard her be disrespectful toward anybody else but Kim. And at some point, it's like, O.K., Kim, you've had a problem with Foxy, you've had a problem with Nicki, you've had a problem with Faith [Evans], with Charli [Baltimore], with everybody. It's like, enough already. I choose to stay out of it. Put out great music, and that's that." (Billboard)

Remy Ma Suffers Loss In '07 Shooting Case

New York's top court has upheld the conviction of rapper Remy Ma in the shooting of a friend in 2007. In a ruling Thursday, the Court of Appeals rejected arguments that a judge didn't properly inform jurors before they rendered a guilty verdict. The rapper's real name is Remy Smith. She's serving eight years in prison for criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of assault stemming from the struggle in which a friend was shot. Smith had accused the friend of stealing $3,000 from her pocketbook. (My Fox News)

Kanye West & Jay-Z Have Some Tricks Up Their Sleeves, Says Big Sean

"Man, I was in the studio with Jay and Ye about a week ago," Sean told SOHH. "I heard some songs. It's gonna be good man, it's gonna be history. [Talib Kweli heard] 'Black Excellence.' To be honest, I think the most unexpected part is kind of out the way with 'H.A.M.' That was probably the most unexpected. That was probably the last kind of track I was expecting to hear from Jay and Ye but they definitely have some tricks up their sleeves. And they have some types of songs that you would think they might have. They really did a good job at covering all aspects, from the songs I've heard." (SOHH)

Cash Money Reunion Still In Works, Says Rap-A-Lot CEO

hot-boys-reunion.jpg

"We don't have a title for [Juvenile's album] yet," Prince said in an interview. "He has a real exciting single that I'm real crazy about. If I have it my way, the whole Cash Money crew is gonna be on there. They were family in the beginning, and I look at it and view 'em as family now. And my relationship with Baby and Slim is superb. You know, we're all business men. So there's no reason we can't come together and make that happen." (The Source)

Kanye West’s New Video Deemed A Health Hazard, Pulled From Youtube

Kanye West isn’t having much luck when it comes to his music videos. Back in December, his Monster video was leaked before he approved the final version and his recent video “All Of The Lights” has been pulled from youtube. Why, you may ask?
Apparently, the video has been deemed a health hazard, particularly to those who suffer from epilepsy. The constant use of flashing imagery in the video may cause people with photosensitive epilepsy to have seizures. A U.K based charity group contacted Youtube and other video channels after they received calls from people who had seizures upon viewing the video. They later posted this message to their website:
“We contacted Kanye West’s agent, YouTube and other online sources of the video to ask that they take it down. The video can no longer be viewed on YouTube and has been replaced by a message saying ‘this video is no longer available.’
We had started to receive calls from people who have had a seizure after watching the video, so we are really pleased it has been taken down. We’re not quite sure yet whether it is YouTube or Kanye West’s representatives who have made this decision, or if it is a permanent move. For now we are delighted that our fears have been listened to and people with photosensitive epilepsy are no longer at risk.”
You can still view the video on DailyMotion but please watch at your own risk

OFWGKTA to Make MTV Debut Today

Last week, California collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All stunned viewers with their raucous television debut on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." Now, OFWGKTA continue their TV tour with an appearance on MTV later today.
According to the group's Tumblr, OFWGKTA will be making their MTV debut this afternoon at 4 PM EST. MTV's Kyle Anderson wrote that a camera crew "piled onto a Chinatown bus [with Odd Future] and took the long, smelly trip to Philadelphia" for a show following their Jimmy Fallon performance last week. They also released a teaser video of their trip down to the City of Brotherly Love.
"I've smelled dick that smells better than this bus," joked Tyler, the Creator. "I'd rather listen to Black Eyed Peas's last album fully through on Dre Beats [headphones] than be on this [bus]."

Mac Miller to Star in New VH1 Show

Just a few days after we announced that Mac Miller was included in our 2011 Freshman Class, XXLMag.com has learned that the Pittsburgh, PA MC will have a cameo in VH1′s new series, Single Ladies, executive produced by Queen Latifah.
Mac told XXL that he is going to be playing himself in an upcoming episode, which will focus on one of the girls discovering him and trying to get him signed to a major label.
While on set in Atlanta filming, the 19-year old MC said he was uneasy at first with getting behind the camera, but has since loosened up. “I was a little nervous doing the whole acting thing,” he said, “[but] since I’m playing myself it wasn’t really hard; I just did what I would do in every situation.”
The series, which also stars Stacey Dash, is set to premiere on VH1 this July. Mac also promises several other guest appearances from other up-and-coming rappers.
Meanwhile, Miller is currently preparing to release his new free album, Best Day Ever, following up last year’s K.I.D.S. The disc is set to drop on March 11.

Chart Vision Institute, ARISE Detroit and HipHopDX Present "Be Seen and Be Heard"

Chart Vision Institute, ARISE Detroit and HipHopDX Present

Breaking into the music industry is no simple feat, and as more and more artist find fame through the Internet, competition is going to only get tougher. But the Chart Vision Institute is looking to give budding artists a leg up on the game by teaming up with HipHopDX and the community awareness group ARISE Detroit for the upcoming industry event "Be Seen and Be Heard."
The event, which is scheduled to held at Detroit's Northwest Activities Center on March 26, will give 500 aspiring producers, singers and songwriters and 100 local youth the opportunity to learn the tricks of the music industry trade.
“We welcome the support from an industry leading Media Company
like HipHopdx and an organization like ARISE Detroit that is in the trenches on a daily
basis”, says Chart Vision’s Chairman and CEO, Warren Griffin, Jr.
“We welcome the support from an industry leading media company like HipHopdx and an organization like ARISE Detroit that is in the trenches on a daily basis”, said Warren Griffin, Jr., chairman and CEO of the Chart Vision Institute.
DX's own editor-in-chief Jake Paine added that, "In today's Internet era, face-time with industry experts is limited. Panel discussions and interaction is critical to those trying to get a hands-on understanding of the behind-the-scenes world of the industry, and relationship-building."
Artists and music lovers looking to get involved in "Be Seen and Be Heard" can head over to Chart Vision's website for more details.

Lil Boosie's Lawyer Files Motion to Have D.A. Removed From Murder Case

Torrence Hatch, better known as Lil Boosie, is in trouble with the law but lawyer Jason Williams thinks he's getting an unfair rap. According to Williams, the District Attorney filed murder charges against Boosie shortly after hearing a Boosie track titled "Fuck 'Em All" that disses the District Attorney and the lawyers, accusing them of racism and cursing them to go "to hell."
According to Williams, the District Attorney heard the song and prepared the case because of it. As a result, Williams would like the D.A. off of the case.
“Mr. Moore learned of these disparaging comments and within 10 days of hearing these remarks, he prepared a case against Torrence Hatch to bring before a grand jury when the individuals actually responsible for this crime had been in custody for quite some time," Williams noted.
Currently, Boosie is being held on a first degree murder charge. The case against him states that he paid to have a man, Terry Boyd (Lil Nussie), killed.
Moore responded to these claims with The Advocate, saying the allegations from Williams are untrue.
“He’s calling me a racist. It (the criminal case against Hatch) has nothing to do with color," Moore said. “The indictment had nothing to do with a song. It has to do with dead bodies and victims."
A State Judge will rule on the case in late June. The lyrics in question are below.

“Fuck the D.A. and the lawyers / Your racist ass is going to hell/ You’ll probably be dead when I come out of jail, ya old bitch / Your dick can’t even get hard no more, bitch you need to die / And the prosecutor’s gay/I see that from a mile away.”

Lil Kim Explains Rejecting Jay-Z's Roc Nation Offer, "It's Hard For Record Companies To Sign Females"

"I did get offers from representatives from Roc Nation and I did get phone calls from representatives from Roc Nation. A couple representatives from Def Jam had also reached out to me. I think they're both amazing companies and I think it would've been brilliant for me and Jay to collaborate and team up together. However it just didn't pan out like that. Not to say that something with me and Jay can't happen in the future, but I doubt if Jay-Z or Roc Nation will be a part of my upcoming album. He and I are really good friends. We both were excited about the idea of us collaborating and maybe me signing with Roc Nation. I think Jay-Z is letting me be Kim at this moment. I think he feels that I deserve to be Kim and also to have everything that... It's hard for record companies to sign females these days and give them exactly what they want and need. I understand that. It's a different world out there." (Rap-Up)

Wiz Khalifa & Amber Rose Intimate Photo Shoot Pics Revealed

For FADER Issue #72 we traveled to Los Angeles and spent the better part of a week with Wiz Khalifa. After, we emerged from a cloud of one-billion joints with a story about what it means to become famous now, and a lot of incredible images. Relatively new FADER photographer Ross Mantle shot Wiz in the center of a music video shoot and documented some of the first days of his relationship with Amber Rose. Mantle said, "He's pretty down to earth. I don't know if he's going to get a head about him later on, but he has a bit of a young ego. I think to be in the position he's in you have to have something like that to begin with." (The FADER)

Maybach Music Group isn’t slowing down.
It was announced via Twitter late last night that Pill was the latest signee to the imprint. Maybach Music Group’s official Twitter account simply posted “@PILL4180 @MEEKMILL @RICKYROZAY @WALE @CAROLCITYCARTEL,”

XXL Presents 2011′s Freshman Class (Who Shouldn't be on the list and who should be on the list)

So everybody is hype about the new Freshman cover of the XXL Magazine. While everybody is hype about who should be on the list I've compiled a list of these artist that dont deserve to be on the cover...now dont get me wrong I dont hate on none of these artists and I'm pretty sure they worked hard to get where they're at right now, but to me this list should be compiled of new mc's who have been out here working putting there name in your face (ex. LIL B) of course these guys are new mc's but a hip hop head should already be familiar with your name to be on the cover cause if a hip hop head aint familiar with you then fasho then damn mainstream dont know you.So here it goes in no sequential order who doesnt belong on this list...

Who Doesn't  Deserve to be on the list but is on it
1.CYHI The Prince
2.LIL Twist
3.Diggy Simmons
4.Fred The Godson( I fucks wit his music tho)
5.Mac Miller ( I fucks wit his music tho)

UPDATE: Waka Flocka Flame Becomes Million Dollar Man In NC Gunfire Case

Six men have been charged in connection with a shoot-out involving rapper Waka Flocka Flame. The men, all in their early 20s, were arrested Saturday by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team. None of the men charged are from the rapper's entourage, said police spokesman Rob Tufano. (Charlotte Observer)

Andre Sellers, Antoine Washington, Xavier Hoover, David Bellamy, Barry Lawrence and Antonio Stukes are all being charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and two counts of felony shooting into occupied property. All are under at least $200,000 bond. Some face additional charges. Police say the men were trying to rob rapper Waka Flocka Flame of his jewelry, while his tour bus got a sound system upgrade at a store on Independence Blvd. on Wednesday. Members of the rapper's security team fired at the men who shot at the bus. (WCNC News)

RumorFix has learned exclusively that the gunmen who opened fire on Waka Flocka Flame's tour bus on Wednesday were after his $1.2 million necklace. Waka's publicist, Kali Bowyer, tells RumorFix exclusively, "We are pleased with the attentiveness by the Charlotte Police Department in capturing these individuals in such a timely manner. It is such a shame that one would risk the lives of innocent women and children in hopes of stealing one's jewelry." (RumorFix)

Lil Kim Says Kens Lie, Barbies Lie & Numbers Do Too, "[Nicki Minaj's] Sales Can Be Questioned Also"

"At the end of the day, you're always going to have your haters," Kim explained in an interview. "We need the haters. There was actually a representative at PayPal who basically didn't really confirm or deny it, but also [said] that they're very happy and proud of the success of Lil' Kim. I think numbers in other areas speak for themselves. I mean, why aren't they questioning the Black Friday [video] being at 2.5 [million views] in less than 18 hours? Why aren't they questioning that? What's the difference? How can you add up one thing and not the other? I just feel like people pick and choose the area that they want to attack [laughs]." (Rap-Up)
