Drake's 'If You're Reading This It's Too Late' To Count Towards Cash Money Requirement
Since Drake's surprise project If You're Reading This It's Too Late was released last week, folks have been going back and forth on whether it was a mixtape or an actual album – which would obviously make things interesting when talking about Drake's future with Cash Money. It was released straight to iTunes, but Drake mentions "mixtape" several times throughout the 17-track offering.
Now, it seems as if we've got an answer regarding the release. Speaking with our old stomping grounds, DatPiff's Kyle "KP" Reilly offered the following explanation.
"Originally we were in talks to release it for free... and have DJ Drama host and even make it an official Gangsta Grillz... however the label was not in favor of that and they struck an agreement to release the project the retail route and it would count towards one of his albums. It was a mutual decision since he wanted to give it away. They [the label] said, 'Hell no,' not in those words, so they 'agreed' to do it this way as a middle ground and it would count towards his Cash Money deal album total. The label had zero input or creative control."
So, if KP is correct, and IYRTITL really does count towards his album requirement with Cash Money, it's safe to say Drake is jumping ship with Wayne.

Lil Wayne Touches On Birdman, 'Carter V' & 'Free Weezy Album' w/ @RollingStone
Outside of his Sorry 4 The Wait 2 mixtape, Lil Wayne has remained quiet about his issues with Birdman, the Cash Money lawsuit, Tha Carter V's whereabouts, the upcoming Free Weezy Album and just about everything else that's surrounding the Young Money artist.
Today he breaks his silence, speaking with Rolling Stone about the above topics and more. Peep some quotes below:
Birdman
Wayne tells Rolling Stone that he and Birdman are no longer on speaking terms. "I have no words," he says. "I'm super-numb to it, to tell you the truth."After we talk some more, he admits that the legal wrangling has been weighing on his mind. "I'm human," he says. "But it's nothing that a good blunt can't cure."
Tha Carter V
Wayne says that Tha Carter V, which he finished recording some time ago, is on ice for now. "It's super-done," he says. "Cake baked, icing on top, name on top, candles lit. I would have released it yesterday if I could. But it's a dead subject right now. It's a jewel in the safe. It's that stash-house money."
Free Weezy Album
In the meantime, he's been putting in 12-hour studio shifts on an all-new project: the cleverly titled The Free Weezy Album, which he plans to release for free in March. "I'm working on it every day, man," he says. "I guarantee it's going to be something dope. If you don't want a musician being creative, don't get The Free Weezy Album."
Retirement + Future
Last year, Wayne hinted that he might be ready to retire from music, but he says he's got other ideas now. "I've thought about it," he says. "But for a person like me that bleeds, eats, sleeps and shits music, it's hard to do." He hopes to spend much of 2015 on tour, and he'd like to do some recording overseas while he's at it. "When I go home, I want my actual house to be a vacation," he says. "And I might give y'all three new kids from four different women. You know how I do it."
