The creativity of many hip-hop acts, (at most in the Golden era) have been influenced by Marvel comics. Emcees have personified marvel characters, sampled cartoon bits and have even flowed comic-like story lines. There is no denying upon Marvel’s influence in hip hop. Many projects have become all time classics with the smarts of comic vibes.
Marvel comics is now paying respects to hip hop culture by revamping the artwork of classic and present-day hip-hop album covers. Marvel’s editor-in-chief Axel Alonso stated in a press release, “For years, Marvel Comics and hip-hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialogue.” The series will feature albums from A Tribe Called Quest, Eric B & Rakim, Biggie Smalls, Wu-Tang Clan, Tyler the Creator, 50 Cent, Lauryn Hill, De La Soul, A$AP Rocky and many more. This is just a peak, there are about 50 album covers in the works. Here is a couple from the first batch, you can check out the rest over at BuzzFeed and Uproxx.
