50 Cent Explains Interscope Dropping G-Unit, Addresses Game Reunion Talk

New York rapper 50 Cent recently opened up on G-Unit no longer being on Interscope Records and if there will ever be a time when he finally reunites with ex-group member Game.

Talking to radio host Bootleg Kev, Fif said his business arrangement with Interscope ultimately forced the label to remove G-Unit.
"The reason why G-Unit was dropped, so the general public understands: the reason G-Unit was dropped from Interscope Records was because the deal I gave them was so well-put-together for them that they were to receive $750,000 in advance on the next albums - each one of the artists. So they gotta remove that in this climate of sales. They just can't afford it." ("Bootleg Kev")
He also took on the question of whether or not a 50/Game reunion will ever take place.
"Nobody asks me [about him]," Fif added, referencing Game. "I don't know. Let me see if this is just one of my character defects or not. When you said that [Documentary] record was crazy, you're making reference to things I wrote for that record. Meaning, the first three singles off of that were things that I wrote. So now, when you look at that, and you look at all the disrespect that was displayed over the years, ask yourself, 'Would you be inherently uncomfortable with the concept of associating yourself again with someone where -- you don't even know where it came from.' ... If I did something wrong, I can accept it, then I created motivation for it. But if I didn't do anything at all and it turns into what that turned into, I'll just stay away from it." ("Bootleg Kev")
Back in May 2010, G-Unit's Tony Yayo recalled his crew being given their walking papers.
"When we got dropped from Interscope it was like, 'Aww, man,'" he said in an interview. "It was like you know a crushing thing. You know, when you used to being on top and now you feel like, for me, you're feeling like you on the bottom...When I got dropped, I'm not gonna front. I was a little down about it. It's not like it was because of the money, because Interscope, they advanced me for my second album. So I got money that I didn't even deserve...but it's just the whole thing of being dropped and everybody looking at you." (XXL Mag)
Earlier the same year, Yayo accused Interscope of blackballing G-Unit.
"I feel like Interscope was trying to blackball me," Yayo explained in an interview. "But to each's own, man, like, when T.O.S. came out, I felt like it was a classic album, T.O.S., but I felt like, a lot of stuff I was starting to learn about the [rap] game, like, why wasn't our album up two weeks ahead of time on iTunes? You know what I'm saying? It feels like there's always something messed up, I felt the office up here, G-Unit, was doing more work than Interscope. That's why I feel like I was getting blackballed."
