While details are still forming, Kim has reportedly struck a deal with UMG.
Kimmy Blanco has supposedly inked a deal with the record label conglomerate. Lil' Kim has supposed signed a deal with Universal Music Group. According to the label's roster page, the Queen Bee is listed as one of the company's artists on the site. This marks the first deal with a major that the Brooklyn, New York native has struck since parting ways with her longtime label AtlanticIn June, Kim announced an affiliation with rap star 50 Cent's G-Unit.Records . "If ya'll don't know, this my boy right here, [Shawty Lo]. G-Unit South, that's where it's at...And I'm family too, down with the G-Unit camp. We got surprises for ya'll." (YouTube)However, 50 later came forward and dismissed the claims.
"She's not actually signed to G-Unit," 50 explained in an interview. "We didn't even have discussions about that. I heard it, I heard people say it too. It was just like, there was no reason to give confirmation for something that didn't actually happen at all. Like, when people say Shawty Lo is signed to G-Unit, they think that he's actually signed an artist deal directly to G-Unit when the project that we're doing is a lot bigger. It's a joint venture." (Headkrack)In February, Kim revealed various record deal offers she had received from Jay-Z's Roc Nation and Def Jam.
"I did get offers from representatives from Roc Nation and I did get phone calls from representatives from Roc Nation. A couple representatives from Def Jam had also reached out to me. I think they're both amazing companies and I think it would've been brilliant for me and Jay to collaborate and team up together. However it just didn't pan out like that. Not to say that something with me and Jay can't happen in the future, but I doubt if Jay-Z or Roc Nation will be a part of my upcoming album. He and I are really good friends. We both were excited about the idea of us collaborating and maybe me signing with Roc Nation. I think Jay-Z is letting me be Kim at this moment. I think he feels that I deserve to be Kim and also to have everything that... It's hard for record companies to sign females these days and give them exactly what they want and need. I understand that. It's a different world out there." (Rap-Up)
