Lil Wayne Is Turning Into Me, Says 50 Cent

G-Unit leader 50 Cent gives his opinion of rap star Lil Wayne and why the Young Money leader will soon be forced to endure similar problems he has encountered with fame in the latest issue of XXL Magazine.

In Fif's eyes, Wayne will eventually have to deal with balancing fame and haters.
"He's turning into 50 Cent," Fif said when asked about his thoughts on Weezy. "He's going through that process of being successful, 'til people go, "You know what? Get the f*ck outta here. We don't want you here no more." Because you're successful. ... For me, the music is an artistic choice. I'll say, from the very beginning, that I can care less about a critic or how someone judges me for the actual music. You see, people understand within hip-hop culture that I'm passionate about actually trying to do something different. I want to make a change in a different way. This is about me personally feeling like I wanna mean more after I'm dead, when I'm gone." (XXL Mag)
Recently, 50 publicly questioned Wayne's Tha Carter IV first-week album sales nearly hitting one million.
When we mentioned Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV almost selling a million albums in the first week, 50 let us know immediately that he wasn't buying the numbers. "To be honest with you, the Lil Wayne sales are a little suspect to me. Because it was trending 600,000 pieces that week. And they didn't do a million copies, it was like 900,000." In regards to Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III, which sold a million copies in the first week back in 2008, 50 gives Lil Wayne his props: "Tha Carter III was definitely hot. He did that." 50 Cent goes on to say: "Tha Carter III commanded that energy, but the last one that just came out, those numbers are funny." (Global Grind)
In late September, Fif dropped his 'Love, Hate, Love" track, which targets Weezy and former G-Unit member Game.
The track starts off slow with a stirring soul vocal sample serving as the backdrop. When the track gets going, 50 sounds sinister after he lyrically launches a salvo in the direction of Young Money captain Lil Wayne. "Acting like a white boy bored, now you wanna jump a flight of stairs on a skateboard/Ni---, why the f--- ya pants so tight?/You trying to show ni---- your ass, your alternative life" - Ouch, 50! But Wayne wasn't the only rapper to catch a stray from Mr. Jackson as former ally Game catches some pretty tough shots too. "I touched more p---- than maxipads/Now Detox can be your little rap rehab/Bi---, just a second visit from the repo man/And you can't afford your monthlys, I mean God D---." (RapFix)
Fif later came forward and confirmed taking shots at Wayne.
"Yeah, yeah, but you know what's interesting, I was just in Las Vegas, I was performing with this thing with Mountain Dew -- I did write the Lil Wayne line on the actual song but you know, when I got an issue, it's clarity in it," 50 told Angie Martinez. "I never, I don't really do subliminals. [Did I say his name on the song?] No, I didn't. I'm making references to his actions because I see, within hip-hop culture, I'm watching the artists attempting to be like the audience in order to gain the audience instead of just letting them come to us. That's even why the urban apparrel business is going away. They dress like the skateboarders. If you're wearing skinny jeans, that's 'their' culture. That is like clothes the skateboarders would wear. You see what I'm saying? [Maybe he likes to skateboard?] Yeah, I just don't know gangsters from New Orleans that skateboard. It's gonna get interesting. If you look at it, like, I ran into [rapper] Machine Gun Kelly in Las Vegas while I was out there and -- he's really like a part of that culture. I don't have a problem with Weezy." ("The Angie Martinez Show")
