Located in the
Juices for Life on Castle Hill Ave in Castle Hill is serving fresh fruit and vegetable drinks to locals sick of fast food and liquor, while building a community of health-conscious customers. Owned by Yonkers rapper Styles P and Trinidadian and Tobagan-born juice mixologist Nigel Rollocks, Juices for Life opened three weeks ago. David Styles, 36 - known by the stage name Styles P - was drawn to the business after making fruit blends part of his own diet. He started "juicing" about 10 years ago at a Harlem health bar run by the Rollocks family. "I was pretty chunky," Styles said. "I was on the road living the fast life. I wasn't paying attention to my health." Since then, the Ruff Ryders rapper has lost 60 pounds. He and Rollocks hope to spread their fruit and vegetable gospel throughout the Bronx. The bar also serves juice made from bark and ginseng - with sexual powers, according to Styles. (New York Daily News)In December 2009, Diddy revealed a sit down he had with the LOX at one of Styles P's
"In a meeting with the LOX!Let's go!!!," he wrote. "Having a bark shot and juicing up with my brother @therealstylesp fruits of life 125th btw park and madison 1! On way to latin quarters with the bad boy dirty money crew!!!! Let's go nyc! Let's go! Let's go!" (Diddy's Twitter)In 2008, Styles talked to SOHH about featuring a nutrition based segment on his Phantom Gangster Chronicles, Volume 1 DVD.
"We got a section about eating good," Styles said. "[There's] a section about exercising. So what you're expecting is some real, real footage. As far as the mixtape, you can expect some real street sh*t, you know, just going in." (SOHH)
