Nicki Minaj & Cher Clash Over "Pink Friday" Name Drop

Young Money star Nicki Minaj and music icon Cher clashed online heading into the weekend after fans of both entertainers mistakenly took a Pink Friday line out of context.

Reports of their public feud emerged online Saturday (November 26) afternoon.
Nicki Minaj and Cher's legions of fans came out to defend their icons after a misconstrued tweet set the social-networking service on fire. It all began with a single tweet that Cher received. "@cher did you know thatbitch @NICKIMINAJ dissed you in her song DIDITONEM," asked one fan. The "diss" was in reference to Nicki's Pink Friday song "Did It On'em," where she raps, "If you could turn back time, Cher/ You used to be here, now you're gone, Nair." The 65-year-old Oscar winner shot back, "Ive seen lots of people come & go! Nobiggie!" (Rap-Up)
Minaj's alleged boyfriend Scaff Beezy picked up on the dispute and offered his words.
Cher retweeted the question with the comment, "Ive seen lots of people come & go! No biggie!" Minaj's online army, led by her friend and associate Scaff Beezy, then flooded Cher with outrage. eezy tweeted, "yo @cher listen to the words b4 you say dumb sh*t on twitter... do you know what a rap metaphor is??? TM is a cult you dont want it with!!" (Gossip Cop)
Cher eventually realized the misunderstanding and admitted her own wrongdoing.
Cher eventually apologized, admitting that she was at fault, but that didn't stop the comments from Nicki's irate fans, including one who wrote "WOW. Thought we were more mature than this. Like nicki didn't even diss you. Listen to the song..." Here, Cher tried to squash the whole thing, writing, "You're right! Im wrong! U R Right! Someone said I was dissed...I've been dissed b4, but instead of finding out...I just got defensive! I should know better! Dumb. What does that say about me? Insecure? Want 2b understood? What?" After her apology, the agry tweets continued to roll in, prompting this frustrated reply, "Gimme a fkn break! Said I was dumb!" Meanwhile, Nicki tuned in at the end of this fiasco and seemed to be amused by the whole thing, adding one brief tweet to end it all, "@Cher #stopit5." (RapFix)
On a lighter note, the self-proclaimed Barbie has been named Billboard's "Rising Star" 2011 recipient.
Nicki Minaj has been named Billboard's "Rising Star" for 2011, capping off a year that has seen the hip-hop star top the charts with her massive-selling "Pink Friday" album and, most recently, earn a pair of trophies at the American Music Awards. The Rising Star Award acknowledges Minaj's phenomenal year and will be presented at the Billboard Women in Music Event on Dec. 2 in New York City. In being named Billboard's Rising Star, Minaj follows in the footsteps of Jazmine Sullivan (2010), Lady Gaga (2009), and Colbie Caillat, who in 2008 was the first artist ever to be given this honor.
