Drake to Receive Songwriter Award



Drake is often recognized for his songwriting talents, and now he’s going to be awarded for it.
It was announced today (March 24) that Drizzy will be receiving the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Hal David Starlight Award at the 42nd Annual Induction and Awards Dinner on Thursday, June 16 in New York City.
“Drake shines as a talented songwriter with a unique vision,” said Songwriting Hall of Fame Chairman and Jimmy Webb, “and we are pleased to honor him with the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award.”
The award was first created in 2004 and is handed out annually to those who are deemed to be leaving their mark on the music industry through their songwriting. Past winners include John Legend, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, Taylor Swift and more.
In related news, Drake is currently preparing to host Canada’s Juno Awards on March 27. —Adam Fleischer
