Jay-Z Grand Slams Major League Victory Against Big Papi

Entertainment mogul Jay-Z has homered a major legal victory agqainst Boston Red Sox baseball star David "Big Papi" Ortiz relating to a 2010 copyright lawsuit involving Hov's 40/40 Club sports bar.

According to new reports, Jay has come to terms with the major league slugger.

Big Papi has buried the hatchet with rapper Jay-Z in a dispute over the name of their dueling nightclubs, court papers filed Monday say. The two were set to square off Tuesday in Manhattan Federal Court over use of the name 40/40, but the conference was cancelled at the last minute, the hip-hop giant's lawyer said. "The case has been settled in principle," said attorney Peter Raymond. "We have agreed on the outlines of a settlement and need to reduce it to writing." (New York Daily News)

They were initially set to face-off in court over the 40/40 Club brand this month.

Jay-Z and Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz will face off in court this month if they can't resolve their cybersquatting dispute. After three hours of negotiations yesterday, Manhattan federal Judge Richard Berman said it was clear that reps for both men "do not have the authority to settle" the East Coast rivalry. Jay-Z is suing Big Papi for using a Web site to promote his Dominican Republic nightclub, Forty Forty, which he calls a rip-off of his famed 40/40 Club. Neither side would say how much Jay-Z wants, but Ortiz's business manager, Mark Walker, called it "way too much." (New York Post)
