Odd Future leader Tyler the Creator's Goblin opened at No. 5. With seven days in the books, his sophomore album has shelled out 45,500 records. (SOHH Sales Wrap)Last week, early estimates projected the LP to sell no more than 45,000 units.
So far, 2011 has been the year of Adele, as her XL/Columbia album, 21, looks headed for an eighth week atop the HITS Album sales chart, with sales north of 100k, which should send her total soaring over 1.6 million here in the U.S. Odd Future rap provocateur Tyler, the Creator's XL/Beggars bow, Goblin, the follow-up to his much publicized 2009 Bastard mixtape, is on target for 40-45k. (HITS Daily Double)Tyler's sophomore LP fell victim to online hackers a week prior.
Tyler The Creator has now joined many other hotly anticipated acts in a fashion that some may think is nothing more than a timely dupe - the Odd Future's de facto leader's album Goblin, backed by popular British indie XL Recordings, has leaked to the Web and it is causing a frenzy like no other. After duping fans with fabricated leaks of his debut album adding Celine Dion songs and other humorous bits according to tweets from the Odd Future Wolf Gang leader, it seems that an official leak of the album has hit the web and rabid fans have snatched it up to dissect the release - yet some supportive OFWGKTA fans are defiantly refusing to download the leaks until the album's official May 10 release.
