T-Pain Delivers D.O.A., "I Vow Right Here To Never Use Auto-Tune Again"

Grammy-winning singer T-Pain looks to be humming the same tune as Jay-Z's "Death of Auto-tune" these days by announcing his decision to retire the voice-enhancing tool from his music.

Pain said he is aiming to take his music to another level which does not include auto-tune.

"I vow right here, right now, to never use Auto-Tune again," T-Pain said in a statement. "I'm onto something that I think is bigger and better called 'The T-Pain Effect.'" (All Hip Hop)

After Pain called out rap mogul Jay-Z following the "Death of Auto-tune" 2009 release, Hov came forward to discuss his record.

"I'm not saying autotune is wack," Jay told radio personality Angie Martinez earlier this week. "I'm not saying that, I just put a soundtrack to it, I put a voice to it. If people wasn't feeling this way then the record wouldn't work the way it would...The culture is bigger than the politics." (The Angie Martinez Show)

While artists like Jay wished death to auto-tune, Dipset rapper Jim Jones previously embraced the music tool.

"We're getting money off of autotune, it's just sounding like somebody's trying to knock a hustle and I don't think that's a little bit gangster if you ask me," Jones explained in June 2009. "We getting money. He's knocking the hustle, ya dig? If these young men are making money off of autotune why would you try to stop that, when you got all the money already? I seen him [at Summer Jam], I don' think he wanted to see me. He almost stopped the whole concert because he said I was in the way of him getting on stage and all of that. But that's politics for the game, ya dig? How you doing? We back, we ballin', we poppin' champagne." (106 & Park)

Pain is currently working on his long-delayed Revolver solo album.

"Revolver is coming," he promised in an interview. "We're just trying to see...It's hard to sell records unless you're Susan Boyle, I guess. Nobody is selling records. I should compete on 'American Idol' the way they're selling records when they come off of there. I need to be a part of that competition. I don't know if they let you use Auto-Tune, but if they do, I'm a shoo-in. I'm two shoes in! I'm a pair of shoes in." (MTV)
