"Mobb Deep Is The Equivalent To Gang Starr"

Terror Squad leader Fat Joe recently spoke about the legacy behind Mobb Deep and why a Prodigy-Havoc one-two punch is comparable to Gang Starr.

For Joey Crack, it is Mobb Deep's ability to cross-over various platforms of hip-hop which ranks them amongst the caliber of DJ Premier and the late Guru.
"Mobb Deep is equivalent to Gang Starr with being one of the purest forms of hip-hop music," Fat Joe told MTV News after a taping of MTV2's upcoming "Hip Hop Squares." "Whenever you want to go do an ill, hard-core hip-hop song that crosses over in the clubs, anybody who makes it is like, 'Yo, this is like "Shook Ones," this is like "Quiet Storm." ' They the kings of that." (MTV)
After Mobb Deep break-up speculations developed earlier this month, Joe was one of the first hip-hop artists to speak on how bad of an impact a separation could have on hip-hop.
"I know nothing about it. But what I'm saying to you is it's like a 9/11 in hip-hop, because when you refer to Mobb Deep, you refer to them as brothers, you refer to them as the purest form of hip-hop. Every time you try to do something that's so authentic in hip-hop, you always refer to 'Shook Ones' and Mobb Deep," Joe explained in an interview. "Overall, it's a super duper sad day in hip-hop. This group has been together for 20 years. I don't know the details, I'm not taking sides. What I can say is that it's sad for hip-hop, the whole hip-hop culture." (Peter Rosenberg)
Following Joe's remarks, Havoc later released a statement refuting claims that the dynamic duo split up.
"Just getting back into NY after my Easter weekend with family and friends in Jersey. I left my phone at a gas station yesterday evening while on my way to Jersey after a glorious Knick's game. To all Mobb Deep fans: it's business as usual! It's Mobb Deep all day!!! My twitter account @THEREALHAVOC will be down until further notice. The only other real account is @PRODIGYMOBBDEEP. Ignore the rest. One!" (Statement)
Earlier the same day, Prodigy stepped forward and said he would not take part in the alleged feud.
"ATTENTION: TO BE CLEAR @PRODIGYMOBDEEP IS A FAKE PAGE I DONT EVEN KNOW WHY SH*T IS VERIFIED TWITTER PEOPLE R ON SUM BULLSH*T RIGHT NOW SMH..," he tweeted April 9th.
"IM A FATHER ,AN ADULT, IM NOT HERE TO BEEF IM HERE TO MAKE MUSIC." (Prodigy's Twitter)
