Hours after reports emerged online claiming 21 year-old rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em purchased a $55 million private jet, one of his representatives has stepped forward to crash the hype.
Speaking via a statement, rep Greg Miller flatly denied the luxury purchase.
In a statement released on Friday, July 29, Greg Miller said, "The elaborate rumors circulating about SouljaBoy purchasing a jet for his 21st birthday are grossly over exaggerated." The spokesman additionally stressed that the rumors "are not true". (Ace Showbiz)
Details of the huge birthday treat hit the Internet early Friday (July 29).
For our 21st birthday, we bought ourselves a 40. For Soulja Boy's 21st birthday, he decided to treat himself to a $55 million dollar jet. Why? Because he's worth it. To be honest, we're seriously surprised that Soulja has that kinda cash, but then again, he did write 'Donk'. His management team, who for some reason didn't stop him said that the young rapper purchased a G5 jet earlier in the week. (The Fab Life)
Although the jet itself was said to cost have $35 million, Soulja Boy had allegedly spent additional money to deck it out.
He bought the G5 jet for $35 million. He then spent an additional $20 million to customize the jet with 12 custom Italian leather seats, 4 liquor bars, flat screen TVs, Brazilian hardwood cabinets and a special travertine tiled floor. It was also said that Soulja replaced the in-flight lavatory with a giant, luxurious bathroom. The pimping out was not only done for the inside of the jet, but also for its outside appearance. The "Pretty Boy Swag" rapper allegedly gave his jet a custom paint job to include his logo. (Ace Showbiz)
Everyone from Nicki Minaj to Young Money president, Mack Maine (whose birthday is also today), made sure to send their well wishes to SB on his born day. Joking, Soulja sent a comment to Nicki on the social networking site, saying: "@NICKIMINAJ i'm 21 now. what it do? :p" SB will be having a birthday bash in Miami that fans can watch live online at souljaboybirthdaybash.com. I'm a team player. I ride with my team, so when my team got broke up I didn't rush to jump on no other team. That's how I felt at the time. I had offers other places, but I wouldn't do it without State Property. It was Roc-A-Fella Records but it was a State Property [movement]. We brought the street cred back to the building.
It was reality rap. I was puttin' my foot on people's neck; it was passionate music. Man, nobody in their right mind woulda jumped in that ring with Jadakiss the way I did at that time in my career. I wasn't even a fully established artist. I took that [beef] as an opportunity. It wasn't even about me and him. It was about Jay-Z and Kiss. At that time I didn't care who you was, if you had problems with anybody on the team [I got involved]. I was a rookie in the game and Jay was "The Big Homie".
I gave him that nickname.
So when Nas [rapped] "..compared to Beans, you wack" on "Ether", n*ggas around me was like "Ohhhhh!!!!" But I already saw what was going on. That was the divide and conquer move. It was a response to when Jay said "Ya bodyguards verse on 'Oochie Wally' was better than yours."
Jay wanted us to stay out the Nas beef, but I said "F**k that."
I was The Mechanic. I was the Professional.
I [responded] to Nas off the [G.Dep's 2002 single] "Special Delivery" beat and said, "What I look like -- a Fredo ni**a? I see through you like glass. Tryna kill four birds with one stone by breaking The Roc in half."
What I meant by that was when Fredo [from "The Godfather"] was out there in Vegas, Moe Green was stroking his ego, trying to divide the [Corleone] family. Nas was trying to Moe Green me like I was Fredo! Nah. You not gonna give me a compliment then you comin' at the family.
Its hard to shine around a light that's brighter than yours. My light was bright, but [Jay's] was right on top of it. Everytime.
That's how I made my bones.
Beanie Sigel is a former Roc-A-Fella Records recording artist from Philadelphia. Besides working in music, his film credits include "State Property", its sequel and "Paper Soldiers."
Grammy-winning singer Beyonce recently gushed over her marriage to rap star Jay-Z and admitted to always being a fan of his, way before they formed a union.
"[Did I visit my husband during my vacation?] I did. I went on tour with him and I got to see the shows from the audience, which was something that I don't get a chance to do. I was really, really inspired," Beyonce said. "I've always been a Jay-Z groupie." ("The View")
"Jay's music is more than music. His lyrics have fathered generations," she says of her husband of three years. "All that he has overcome gives millions so much hope. There are moments when I see his lips moving and I can see lyrics floating above his head and I think, 'Wow! How did I get so lucky to be able to witness this level of genius so closely?'" (Complex)
Jay's longtime friend, writer dream hamptonrecently penned an article describing the couple's close-knit relationship.
"Shortly after they'd become serious, when Jay was on summer tour, I was touched by the fact that they were committed to scheduling real time together, even if that meant Beyonce coming on the road, occasionally gracing the stage to perform one of their collabos. I wondered to myself if Jay would return the favor. Powerful women have no problem supporting their partners' dreams so demonstratively. But that September, when it was her turn to head out on her first major international tour as a solo artist, Jay was backstage in her dressing room, playing cards with a robed Beyonce, ready to return the backing and join her onstage if need arose. The very nature of such circumstances proves that they are, indeed, the true definition of a power couple." (Ebony Magazine)
Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em appears to be living the good life as new reports claim the "Crank That" hitmaker spent $55 million on a private jet for his 21st birthday.

"50 gave me a bus to record my album since I was on tour," Soulja Boy said in an interview. "When they came at me and was like, '[Lil] Wayne wants you to be on tour with Drake, Jeezy, a lot of people,' of course I'mma do it." (MTV)
G-Unit leader 50 Cent has plans to link back up with his former 2007 Nielsen SoundScan opponent Kanye West, however, the producer's work with Jay-Z has held up the progress.
"Yeah we talked about it, both of us; and Kanye went on the radio and talked about us collaborating soon," 50 said in an interview. "I don't know if it will actually happen during this period, because of how much they got going on with Watch the Throne, with him and Jay doing that. I don't know...I have a lot of good ideas for it, and I just put 'em on the side and said, 'We'll see what happens,' and I kept doing other things -- I have too many records right now. I recorded to the point that I have 40 songs for a CD that will have 13, maybe 14 cuts." (MTV)
"The usual suspects. I want to get with Kanye on this album. See if we can come up with something," 50 revealed in an interview. "I didn't work with [Dr.] Dre yet. I wouldn't hold my project up for [Dre production], but I want to get in to do it. It's always a process. I also worked with Swizz Beatz on this one." (VIBE)
"If Kanye West sells more records than 50Cent on September 11th, I will no longer write music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out any more solo albums. And I bet when Kanye West's sales come in, he's gonna have a 70 percent decrease because Def Jam is gonna buy records to keep him close to 50 Cent. So watch the first week and watch the second week and watch his a** fall off the planet." (SOHH)
Kanye West's "Graduation" (DefJam) easily leads the star-studded class of Sept. 11 releases, posting The Billboard 200's largest sales total in more than two years. Nielsen SoundScan will show West's album moved 957,000 during its first six days when the tracking service refreshes its charts tomorrow morning (Sept. 19). Also pumping album volume are 50 Cent's "Curtis" (G-Unit/Interscope), which will lock down the No. 2 slot with 691,000 sold. (Billboard)
Young Money star Drake and singer Rihanna are once again making headlines as a rumored couple with new reports claiming they recently visited an adult retail shop.
Sexy rocker RIHANNA turned the kinky portrayal of sadomasochist s*x on her chart-topping "S&M" into reality, whispers My Canuck Spy - who spotted Star Vixen hand-in-hand with old flame DRAKE at Wicked Wanda's Adult Emporium in Ottawa, where she cracked whips, then spent $1,000-plu$ on handcuffs, a riding crop/whip, bustier, pasties, boots, edible undies, collar and leash, spandex hood and...a chocolate p*nis! Said the salesbabe: "Have fun." Purred Rihanna: "I always do!" (National Enquirer)
Earlier this month, reports of a mid-June romantic encounter between Drizzy and RiRi became public.
Drake and Rihanna got pretty damn close at a nightclub in Canada a few weeks ago ... snuggling up at a private booth -- but does the pic back up the rumor that they're really more than friends? The photo was shot at the Buonanotte Supperclub in Montreal on June 12 right around midnight. One source inside the club tells us the two were "all over each other" the entire evening ... and were even seen making out. Rihanna has denied the two are an item -- but after seeing this pic, you buyin' what she's sellin'? (TMZ)
"Me and RiRi? Ah, No...Well, [our 'What's My Name musicvideo,] it was a moment. I mean, I care for her very much. She's a great person. Me and Rihanna have a great connection. But no, we're not together. We're young. Young kids. Just living life. That's it. I just want to have some stories to tell you." ("Tim Westwood TV")
"We weren't really sure what it was. We just went out - my friends, his friends. I definitely was attracted to Drake, but I think it is what it is, like it was what it was." Explaining why the romance didn't work out, the Barbadian beauty added further, "We didn't want to take it any further. It was at a really fragile time in my life, so I just didn't want to get too serious with anything or anyone at that time." (Ace Showbiz)
Turns out G.O.O.D. Music's Pusha T has decided to fully address ex-affiliate Consequence once and for all by playing off the rapper's recent disses toward his team.
"It's not internal because you have to be inside to be internal [conflict]," Pusha explained in an interview. "You're not inside. You know, it is what it is. Previously before, I've never answered this question because I've always felt like, me being the newest signee to G.O.O.D. Music, they have a history. Consequence, [Kanye West], those guys, they all have a history. It goes way before me. I never answered the question and I always thought it would blow over and people would be like, respectful. It doesn't make sense for me to answer it because I know Ye probably got love for dude. It goes back too far. Just to me, as it stands right now, it's funny because me and Ye have never talked about it. Not once. Never, not once. That in itself should tell you how serious it is. It's really not -- It's not like a back and forth thing because it doesn't do anything for me. The stuff he does isn't good, to me. I don't think you've ever been checking for it. Nobody's ever checked for it -- I've never checked for it and I'm a fan of rap. People I don't like in rap, I like they music and I've never checked for him." (DJ Moon Dawg)
Consequence seems to be taking shots at his former G.O.O.D. music compatriot KanyeWest in a clip entitled "The World is Watching 2: The Puppet Masters." In what looks to be a thinly-veiled dig at West, Consequence implies that Kanye is some sort of "king" and Cons intends on "stopping" him. As images of Kanye, Rhymefest, Fonzworth Bentley, Lupe Fiasco and others the following words flash across the screen: "There are some who think they have this ability, and others who are robbed for it. But by who? The puppet masters," reads the clip. "They are the ones who are put in place to ensure that any wizard on the horizon relinquish his power to the king. The only one who can stop the king and his court, is... the warrior. It's been done before... And it will happen again. The world is watching." (Hip Hop Blog)
Last week, Cons dropped "The Plagiarist Society" going at G.O.O.D.'s Pusha T and warning of an onslaught directed at Yeezy.
"So what you've ignited is the heroin flow that'll eat your flesh alive/Before EMS arrives and the wings of death decide / That it's time to expire / Yeah, meaning it's time to retire/ Because you'll never get a trophy, playing for the Steelers / They steal n*ggas lines, steal n*ggas flows / 40 million in, still a n*gga owes -- You keep f*ckin' around but still don't hit / And that's why the motherf*cking Clipse got clipped -- But still there's no Malice in my heart / For these poor little wretched clowns that I'ma coast through -- He ain't nothin' but a body shield for the coward from the Midwest / So yes, you can bet / That your boss is next." ("The Plagiarist Society")
Although Ye remains mum on the situation, Big Sean has addressed Cons' verbal shots.
"Kanye, that situation with him and Consequence, that's way personal," Sean explained in an interview. "That's not a random dude dissing. That was somebody who was part of the fam, was all in the fam together and then they had their problems." ("The Breakfast Club")
Roc Nation's J. Cole recently opened up about his long-awaited debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, and how the album developed naturally for him.
Anticipating its September 27th release, Cole said his debut's compilation formed a musical sound.
"All the songs on the album just happened naturally. There was never a 'Oh, we need this kind of song'," Cole explained in an interview. "Everything happened naturally and very organically...It wasn't until I started playing it for people and I kept getting those responses like, 'Man, this is really musical,' -- To me, that's regular; that's what you should do on an album. I try to do that as much as possible, even on my mixtapes. So on the album, of course, I took it to the next level." (MTV)
After keeping fans waiting, J. Cole has finally revealed the title and release date for his debut album. Cole World: The Sideline Story will be released on September 27 via Roc Nation/Sony Music. The North Carolina rapper made the announcement on Twitter. Rap-Up.com has confirmed the title and release date with his label rep. (Rap-Up)
"I'm trying to find ways to word it without sounding overly egotistical, and I want to remain humble, but also let people know it's actually (really) incredible," Cole said about the new LP. "I'm sitting on gold, man. I don't wanna speak it up too much but I'm super confident in it. I'm super proud." The album is due "absolutely no later than September," says Cole, who's been reticent to release an album title or date until both are set in stone. (Detroit News)
"I sampled a KanyeWest song, but the problem is, [there's] like five writers that he gave credit to," Cole said in a Ustream broadcast. "When you're clearing a sample, every writer has to be contacted. So you have to contact each and every one of them and get it cleared, so it's tougher than the average one. As soon as it clears, we're puttin' it out. It's perfect for the summer. It's beautiful -- I can't wait 'til y'all hear it and then hear the sample and the original and how I did it. I don't feel like nobody would've thought to flip it like that or even would've heard that part." (Ustream)

Newly aligned G-Unit business partner Shawty Lo recently discussed his relationship with 50 Cent and why he relates closer to the New York rap star than most fans believe.
"Basically our similar life stories coming up," Shawty Lo said referring to 50. "My life, how I was raised by my grandmother and she passed. His life with his mother. Similar situations. We're cut from the same cloth. My grandmother raised me, my mother was on drugs, my daddy was elsewhere, my grandmother died of cancer when I was 17 years old. I've been on my own since then...I feel like what he is to NewYork, I am to Atlanta." (XXL Mag)
"That's an easy question. I'm not an artist. I am a boss and an artist. A lot of artists, depend on the label to do everything. I don't depend on the label to do everything; I have my own label, so I'm a boss and an artist." (VIBE)
"My vision, man, is to give it 100 percent, whatever we do," Shawty said. "I really signed with 50 because I feel like 50's a marketing genius. I've been watching him since he first came into the game before I even thought about becoming a rapper. But to make it short and simple, I signed a big deal with 50, $10 million deal. If that ain't enough, he's sitting right beside me, so let's get it...A lot of artists come into the game and they don't know thebusiness side. So basically, I was one of those artists at first in the beginning. In the music business, it's really 20 percent music and 80 percent business. If you learn the business, you can really go a long way." (Hot 107.9)
"I'm just not a believer in a 360 deal. I feel like I can make my own money before I let a label come in a give me a 360 deal," Shawty said in an interview. "You don't have to give me a whole lot of upfront money to do a 360. I don't need that...I just felt like 50 would be the best situation for me, man, because my life story came from where my life story came from: turning a negative into a positive. It feels like it's familiar with 50's life. That's why I ran with him. Another label could've offered me five times what 50 offered me. I just feel like 50 was the perfect opportunity for me." (MTV)
After the show hosts said they would love to hear Pusha engage in a battle with Cons, he laughed off the prospect of putting it on wax. “Really? You’re like the first person to ever say that. I don’t ever think anyone’s wanted to see Consequence,” he jested. “Never no radio personality, DJ has ever said they want to hear Consequence!”
He also stated that he’s unsure if he will respond to the record, as there’s no upside to engaging in a rap battle.
“At the end of the day, I am an artist and this is sort of fun to me still. This whole rap thing is sort of fun to me, so I won’t say you won’t hear nothing. But a go-back-and-forth between me and him, it’s not right. You can’t get anything out of it,” he continued. “People are disrespectful. What can you say? ‘Ye is a great guy. He’s done a lot for me, he’s done a lot for everybody. He’s ever embraced in this music game, he tries his hardest for everybody.”
Iconic rap group Wu-Tang Clan are reportedly on the prowl for some extra hands this summer as reports claim the Staten Island bunch are in need of interns.
Every now and then a gem will land on Craigslist. This time it's courtesy of Wu-Tang Clan. According to their Craigslist post, their management is in need of an intern at their Staten Island offices. An ideal applicant is someone with excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, well organized, and has extensive experience running social networking sites. Think you fit the build? If accepted, you can expect to take upon the responsibilities of working with their video production department, radio station, and maintaining their social network, Wu-World.com. (Complex)
"We Need a Group Name!!!!!," the message read last night (January 8). "Help us out! As you know Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Reakwon are teaming up for an album dropping very soon, but Meth, Rae & Ghost need a name 4 the group. Txt MethRaeGhost to 66937 to name the band! If they chose UR name U can be in the liner notes (Ghostface Killah's MySpace)
Outside of social networking, the crew released their newLegendary Weapons album this month.
The Wu-Tang Clan's sprawling output and the fact assembling all its members is akin to herding cats, means it's hard to tell what counts as a genuine Clan studio album. Legendary Weapons has everyone except GZA and Masta Killa, plus a smattering of Killah Beez, so it's pretty much there. (Metro)
In addition to Wu-Tang Clan group members Ghostface, Raekwon, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Cappadonna, U-God and The RZA, Legendary Weapons also features verses from AZ, M.O.P., Trife Diesel, Killa Sin, Termanology and others. (StreetKode Magazine)
Island Def Jam CEO Barry Weiss has come forward to address recent reports and speculation claiming his music empire, home to Kanye West, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy and Rihanna, is experiencing financial woes.
"I don't know what the f*ck they're talking about. DefJam is not broke, it's on fire!," he explained in an interview. "We just did a deal with Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music and Big Sean's album is a great success and will continue to garner a lot of attention. Kanye and Jay-Z's Watch The Throne has the whole world buzzing. Jeezy got an album coming out and his show last night in NYC has the whole industry excited. Rihanna just ended her amazing tour of her amazing album. Frank Ocean is on the verge of super stardom. Rick Ross and so many other great artists are part of our incredible roster. Of course we are looking to maximize our potential and are in search of additional African-American leadership to take us to the next level. But, let me be clear, Def Jam is on fire." (Global Grind)
Even though 50 has championed G-Unit's independence, speculation has swirled about whether Lloyd Banks would sign to Def Jam where former G-Unit president Sha Money XL now resides as the Senior VP of A&R. 50, without saying it directly, shot down the notion of a Def Jam deal, citing the label's supposed-financial woes. Recently, the legendary rap label has gone through a bit of restructuring with former head honcho L.A. Reid leaving and Barry Weiss stepping in as chairman and CEO. Regardless, Fif doesn't seem too optimistic for a future at the label. "Well, Def Jam, I'm not even sure what that system -- that system is not in a good space right now. They're like $80 million in the hole," he said, before laughing, "Don't tell them I told you." (MTV)
"G.O.O.D. Music is an exciting new chapter in the long and successful association of Kanye West and Island Def Jam," said Mr. Weiss. "As a recording artist and a producer over the past eight years, there is no one who has made a greater impression on the game than Kanye. We look forward to working closely with the new and established artists that he will be bringing toG.O.O.D. Music, which is already off to an impressive start with Big Sean." (Statement)
"Kanye's genius has been proven time and time again on records and onstage," said Mr. Bartels. "He not only pours it out for himself, but he has made the difference with his presence on innumerable projects with other artists who are indebted to him. Kanye is an integral core member of the IDJ family, and G.O.O.D. Music continues his unselfish tradition of bringing along great new artists to the forefront." (Statement)
Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy ran into law enforcement a few days ago after his flashy Ferrari caught the attention of hometown police for committing a traffic violation.
When you roll around town in a $192k car ... people notice -- especially POLICE who claim rapper Young Jeezy failed to signal while changing lanes in ATL this weekend. TMZ obtained photos of Jeezy talking with Atlanta police officers around 8:00 PM Sunday evening ... after cops pulled over the rapper's super-customized 2011 Ferrari California. We're told 3 officers in 2 squad cars handled the situation -- and Jeezy was eventually allowed to drive off after receiving his ticket. Jeezy's citation will cost him somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 ... but based on his ride, we're guessing he can afford it. We called Jeezy's reps for comment -- so far, no response. (TMZ)
Last winter, Jeezy made headlines for allegedly getting arrested in the Bahamas.
One of the concert's promoters Jason Cartwright confirmed on his Facebook page that the hip-hop star had been arrested early Saturday, but was later released. "People tried to shut us down, yea' Jeezy was locked up, he out now (about) to beat the stage bad tonight," Mr Cartwright wrote Saturday morning. A well-placed source told The Tribune that the rapper was taken into the Fox Hill area by friends and was simply "in the wrong place at the wrong time" when he was taken into custody. (The Tribune)
Young Jeezy's manager, Demetrius Ellerbee, has denied a report that the rapper was arrested in the Bahamas on Saturday. "It's not true," Ellerbee told MTV News. According to Bahamian newspaper The Tribune, Jeezy was on his way to a show in an area of the island called New Providence when he was arrested by local officials. While the reason for his arrest was not specified, the paper says the rapper wasn't held for very long. (MTV)
Outside of legal woes, Jeezy recently announced the release date of his upcoming Thug Motivation 103 album.
Taking the stage at Highline Ballroom, Jeezy revealed that his oft-delayed fourth LP will drop this fall. "My ni**a Kinky B. just told me that TM103 will be in stores September 20. Goodnight, I love ya'll!" he told the crowd at the end of his 75-minute set, which featured appearances from Jay-Z, Kanye West, Fabolous, The Lox, and Bun B. (Rap-Up)
