"I Mean, Really, My Grandfather, I Consider Him The Jay-Z Of His Time"

Renowned 1960's music icon Bob Dylan's 15-year-old grandson has decided to delve into the rap arena, and labeled his grandfather as "the Jay-Z of his time".

According to Dylan's grandson, Pablo Dylan, he sees himself following in papa's footsteps.
"I mean, really, my grandfather, I consider him the Jay-Z of his time, and he definitely has a legacy that a lot of people look up to," Pablo Dylan said in an exclusive interview. "He feels strongly about my music and I love him to death." Pablo is the son of the famous folk singer's son, Jesse, famous for having directed music videos for Tom Petty and Lenny Kravitz, and for having directed the Will.I.Am music video for "Yes We Can," inspired by President Barack Obama's historic run in 2008. "We just put out the mixtape 10 Minutes; we got like 50,000 views on that, and I just got back in the studio to work on things and perfect everything." Pablo said. (All Hip Hop)
Bob Dylan is reportedly responsible for inspiring music legends throughout the 1960's including The Beatles.
Bob Dylan's influence on popular music is incalculable. As a songwriter, he pioneered several different schools of pop songwriting, from confessional singer/songwriter to winding, hallucinatory, stream-of-consciousness narratives. As a vocalist, he broke down the notion that a singer must have a conventionally good voice in order to perform, thereby redefining the vocalist's role in popular music. As a musician, he sparked several genres of pop music, including electrified folk-rock and country-rock. And that just touches on the tip of his achievements. Dylan's force was evident during his height of popularity in the '60s -- the Beatles' shift toward introspective songwriting in the mid-'60s never would have happened without him. (All Music)
Along with Dylan's grandson, fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger's son, Rich Hil, has ventured into hip-hop by recently signing to Warner Bros. Records.
"I've been signed for a few months, but this is the first time it's really real, because I couldn't tell anybody I was signed until Warner was ready to put the press release out," Hil said in an interview. "It's so surreal. I worked so hard for this sh*t...Warner was talking to the singer The Weeknd and they asked him, 'Who do you want to work with; Who's your favorite artist; We can probably make it happen;' And he said 'Rich Hil,' -- so automatically they called me to the offices in LA and started talking about a deal, and we did it and everything worked out." Hollywood actor Tom Hanks' son, Chet Haze, recently talked to SOHH about venturing into a hip-hop career.
"See man, the stereotypes, what they really come from is, I'm a white kid from the suburbs, from a well-to-do family, and that's about the last thing your average middle American thinks about when he thinks about hip-hop," Chet explained to SOHH. "There's just a lot of cliches out there. People associate hip-hop and the music of hip-hop with being from the hood and being gangster. That's a portion. That's something that's affected hip-hop but what people need to know about me is that hip-hop is something more than white and black. Hip-hop is not only music, but a culture. And if it speaks to you, then it speaks to you. Hip-hop has spoken to me since I was a little kid. No matter where you're from or who you are, if the music and the culture speaks to you, it's gonna have an effect on you. That's what's happened to me. It's something I love and it's something I do."
