According to reports, Brown was taken in by police Monday afternoon.
Just days after the autopsy results of Whitney Houston were released to the public, the late singer's ex-husband Bobby Brown was arrested on charges of driving under the influence. The arrest came on Monday, March 26 at 12:20 p.m., when Brown was spotted talking on his cell phone while driving down Victory Blvd in the San Fernando Valley. According to the arrest report obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Brown "displayed objective symptoms of intoxication and was asked to submit to a series of Field Sobriety test[s] that he was unable to perform as explained/demonstrated." (The Hollywood Reporter)Despite the headline-generating arrest, Brown reportedly posted bail shortly afterward.
As for Brown's alleged cell phone violation, it appears he's off the hook for a possible citation. But in general, drivers face a $20 fine for a first cell-phone violation and a $50 fine for subsequent violations. After Bobby Brown's DUI arrest, he posted an undisclosed amount of bail and remains free pending a court date. Brown and Houston's 14-year marriage was tarnished by drug abuse, Brown's run-ins with the law and allegations of domestic abuse. It became fodder for the tabloids and entertainment shows and for a year was on display in the reality show "Being Bobby Brown." The superstar singers met at the 1989 Soul Train Music Awards and married three years later. Houston divorced Brown in 2007, winning custody of their daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown. (Los Angeles Times)The arrest comes just days after a coroner's report suggested cocaine may have contributed to her February death.
Whitney Houston died from an accidental drowning in a hotel bathtub, but the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use" were contributing factors in her death, the Los Angeles County Coroner said in an autopsy report released Thursday. Houston, 48, was "found submerged in bathtub filled with water" and "no trauma or foul play is suspected," the coroner said. The toxicology tests found other drugs in her body, including marijuana, the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril and the allergy medicine Benadryl, the report said. But these drugs "did not contribute to the death," it said. (CNN)
