UPDATE: Rick Ross Not A Suspect In Fatal Miami Shooting, Murder Case

Maybach Music Group leader Rick Ross can breathe a sigh of relief as new reports claim he is not a prime suspect in the murder of a 40 year-old man at his Miami home this week.

Although the murder took place in front of his crib, Ricky Rozay does not have to worry about dialing up an attorney.
After police found a dead body in front of a Miami Gardens home owned by Rick Ross, the Maybach Music boss' name began to pop up in connection to the killing, but an area detective confirmed to MTV News on Wednesday (February 29) that the rapper is not a suspect, nor is he being sought for questioning. Miami Gardens officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 7 a.m. ET after reports of gun shots. When police arrived at the scene of the crime they found a dead body in the yard of a house owned by the rapper, whose real name is William Roberts. Though Ross owns the property, it is not where he resides. "He lives at a different location," Detective Michael Wright told MTV News. (MTV)
Initial reporting suggested he was not present at the time of the murder.
Cops are looking to speak with rapper Rick Ross ... after a 40-year-old man was shot to death in front of his Miami Gardens home this morning ... TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources tell us ... Ross was NOT home at the time of the shooting and at this point in the investigation, he's not considered a suspect. We're told cops found the victim laying inside a gate at the home. (TMZ)
Additonal reports claimed local police were called to the scene around 7 a.m.
Police say Ross was not at his home at the time of the death and are not treating him as a suspect. Ross often lets friends stay at the property and has a different mailing address. A car belonging to victim was removed from property by police. Just before 7 a.m., Miami Gardens officers were sent to check out reports of shots fired in the area of Northwest 32nd Avenue and 181st Street. (Miami Herald)
A witness later came forward with details on what went down.
Police were driving near Ross's neighborhood this morning around Northwest 181st Street and 32nd Avenue when they spotted the dead body of a 40-year-old man inside the gate of the rapper's front lawn. "I was there when there were shots. I don't know what car, but they got away down the street," one witness tells Local 10, suggesting either a drive-by shooting, or that the shooter or shooters made off in a getaway car.
