B.G. Gets His Day In Court, Federal Weapons Sentencing Date Penciled In

Former Cash Money Records rapper B.G. will have his fate revealed to him following a December guilty plea in a federal weapons case this spring.

According to reports, B.G. will be sentenced in the case on April 25th.

The federal sentencing of a local hip-hop star convicted on weapon and witness tampering charges has been set for late April. Christopher Dorsey, 31, of St. Rose, who raps under the moniker B.G., or Baby Gangsta, and was a member of the rap supergroup the Hot Boys, is facing roughly eight to 10 years in prison, according to sentencing recommendations made by probation officers. But prosecutors with U.S. Attorney Jim Letten's office have signaled that they intend to object to the sentencing suggestion, and could push for a stiffer prison stint. (NOLA)

Last December, B.G. decided to opt out of a plea agreement in the case.

As he introduces the video for his song "I Ain't Tellin," hip-hop superstar B.G. sits in a luxury vehicle with a rapper colleague, bemoaning the state of street culture. "This f--king ratting s--t, man, this s--t here is getting out of hand," B.G. says. "Man, it's called T-Y-C. Take Your Charge." On Wednesday morning, B.G. -- also known as Christopher Dorsey -- did exactly that. Clad in an orange jail jumpsuit, his hands shackled and his lawyer by his side, Dorsey stood before U.S. District Court Judge Ginger Berrigan. Asked whether he was guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm and witness tampering, Dorsey again answered in the affirmative. But prosecutors made clear there is no plea agreement or deal in place. Now, he faces a prison stint that could stretch 40 years. (NOLA)

The rapper's fate was previously set to be revealed on March 14th.

Christopher Dorsey, better known as local rapper BG, pleaded guilty Wednesday to gun charges. Dorsey admitted that on two occasions he possessed guns, despite being a three-time convicted felon. He also pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice for trying to get an associate to claim ownership of the guns. Dorsey will remain behind bars until his sentencing in March. (WWL TV)

In May, reports claimed he faced up to ten years behind bars on the gun possession charge.
