Birdman Ready To Make Cash, Money W/ Limp Bizkit, "[Lil] Wayne Was Going To Announce It At The Grammys"

Cash Money Records CEO Birdman is telling fans to believe the hype days after reports emerged online claiming rap-metal crew Limp Bizkit signed to his label and revealed what is up next for the music veterans.

According to Birdman, Limp Bizkit's frontman reached out to get the wheels rolling and make the deal happen.

"Fred [Durst] reached out, bruh," Birdman said in an interview. "I was already a fan of him. When the opportunity came, we really was supposed to announce it at the Grammys. [Lil] Wayne was going to announce it at the Grammys, but he did it when he felt like it. ... He's a visionary, he a great artist. Also, I want him to be a part of our staff and take over the rock department and bring us over more talent because that's what he does. I think with having Limp he brings a lot." (XXL Mag)

Durst also explained his motivation for teaming with Birdman's team.

"As both an artist and someone who has signed artists, I can say without a doubt that Cash Money is at the top of their game," Durst said in a statement. "What attracted me to the label is not only their great taste and hustle, but their belief in their artists and the family atmosphere. Slim and Birdman allow their artists to be themselves and encourage creative output and continued development. I look forward to bringing my vision as a director as well as my voice to the label and to Limp Bizkit putting out some of our best music to date." (XXL Mag)

Last week, Durst hopped on Twitter and announced his YMCMB affiliation.

"The game is missing danger, electricity, and rock n roll!!!!" Cash Money Limp Bizkit," he tweeted Friday (February 24).

"Rock sh*t doesn't rock anymore! They say the whole game done went pop so I'm back in this ho! #CMLB" (Fred Durst's Twitter)

Lil Wayne had also made the deal official, prior to Durst's tweets.

Lil Wayne announced on Thursday that one of the icons of 90s nu-metal, Limp Bizkit, would be joining the YMCMB roster. In an interview with New York's 98.7 KissFM station DJ Lenny Green, Wayne said, "we're always listening and looking at acts. Every other day I hear about somebody new just signed to Cash Money ... The other day I found out Limp Bizkit signed to Cash Money. They're signing everybody." Wayne also said that the label could be working with former Murder Inc. princess Ashanti, but it was the news that Bizkit would join the likes of Nicki Minaj and Drake that raised the most eyebrows.
