Rihanna Gets Linked To Whitney Houston Biopic Rumors

R&B star Rihanna is reportedly being named as a possible strong candidate to bring late music icon Whitney Houston's life story to the big screen in a biopic.

While nothing has been confirmed, RiRi is believed to be a frontrunner for the role.

Pop queen Rihanna is among a string of stars in the running to play Whitney Houston in a movie tribute to the tragic singer. Just days after the ­funeral of the Bodyguard actress, it has emerged a host of Hollywood celebs and music idols are clamouring for the film role. Whitney's mentor and record company boss Clive Davis is behind the project to immortalise the 48-year-old superstar on film. If the movie hype is legit, the 24 year-old singer could also face competition from other lady celebrities in the run to portray Houston.

Among the reported 'short list' of names being considered for the starring role are Rihanna, Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, Independence Day ­actress Vivica Fox, recording artist Brandy and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, who will co-star with Houston in the upcoming film 'Sparkle'. Speculation on whether or not RiRi is actually being considered for the alleged biopic has created doubt as her only movie role to date is in an upcoming science fiction thriller.

So let's assume that Rihanna, whose first film role will come this May in the board-game-turned-big-screen-action-flick Battleship, is not exactly a lock for the part, despite the fact that the two women share a pop-star background and complicated relationships with guys named Brown.
