Erykah Badu Gets Booked To Cut, Scratch At Grammy Week

R&B singer Erykah Badu may have a slew of hit records to her name but the Grammy-winning performer will showcase some deejaying skills at a Grammy Week event next month.

According to reports, Badu along with DJ Spinderella will be on hand to work deejay sets in Hollywood.
And the Grammy Week events just keep on comin'. the Recording Academy has partnered with CoverGirl, Olay and Venus on Grammy Glam--celebrating the intrinsic connection between music and glamour--on Tuesday (2/7) at MyHouse in Hollywood. The red-carpet event will feature DJ sets by DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown a.k.a. Erykah Badu, DJ Spinderella of Salt-N-Pepa and new DJ duo The Jane Doze. On the interactive tip, female fans at home will have the opportunity to showcase their spinning skills by entering the "Grammy Glam" room on Turntable.fm; their music will be virtually spotlighted at the event during The Jane Doze's opening act. Coincidentally, Spinderella recently aired out her issues with non-traditional deejays gaining a buzz as of late.
While the fans seem to enjoy people like Alicia Keys (aka DJ AK-47), Kanye West (aka DJ Yeezy World Peace) and Lil Wayne hitting the turntables, others don't find it as amusing. Longtime DJ Spinderella took to her Twitter account to vent her frustrations about these artists turned DJ's. "First, Dj AK-47 (Alicia Keys) and now Dj wih wih wiggety Wayne? WTH who's next??" she started off asking. "record sales down .. become a Dj ? FOH" (In Flex We Trust)
Earlier this month, rap star Lil Wayne showed off his deejaying skills at a Miami nightclub.
Alicia Keys, Kanye West joined the celebrity DJ club in 2011, and now it looks like Lil Wayne wants to be down. He made his DJ debut on New Year's Eve at Dream Night Club in Miami, and Weezy's not bad, but he just gets distracted and starts rapping. (The Urban Daily)
On the other side of the United States, hip-hop artist Kanye West got his spinning on in Las Vegas.
Kanye West had Sin City spinning to his sounds as he celebrated 2012 at a New Year's Eve bash. The rapper-turned-DJ, who goes by the DJ alias Yeezy World Peace, made his stateside debut on the turntables at the grand opening of 1OAK nightclub at The Mirage in Las Vegas. Partygoers danced into the new year with old school records from Michael Jackson and Diana Ross, mixed with 2011's biggest hits. He was joined by his "All of the Lights" collaborator Fergie, who hosted the bash, as well as his G.O.O.D. Music family including Big Sean and Kid Cudi. (Rap-Up)
